Nor Cal Riders, where to ride at?

New ATV owner here!!!

I have a Honda 400ex and I was looking for some places to ride or maybe some riders to ride with.

I live in San Jose, and I’ve been out to Pismo beach a couple of times.

Where else can I go that isn’t more than 3 hours away?

Is there any ATV rider clubs in Nor Cal?

1. Hollister Hills SVRA (1 hr)
2. Carnegie SVRA (1 hr 15 min )
3. Metcalfe County Park (15 min)
4. Prarie City SVRA (3 hr)
5. Clear Creak BLM (2 hr)
..... most of the above are trails. if you want to do mx track
1. Marysville (3hr)
2. Club Moto, Livermore (1 hr 15min)
3. Sand Hill, Brentwood (1 hr 30 min)
..... im sure i have missed a few other places since i mostly ride in the sand :D

Thanks norcalduner,

I might have to look in to those places one day.

My personal preference is the sand also. Ive been known for bad falls, and the sand is most forgiving =)

It all depends on your riding , Sand = Pismo/Glamis . Psycho Uphills = Carnagie, Hollister/ Frank Raines.
We prefer more casual cruising trails in the mountains and foothills.

This is a great area , tons of riding and a good campground. For us its just over an hour 15 from door to park.

I normally go to Hollister Hills every Saturday if possible. I've gone as far as La Grange off hwy 59. The mx track is awesome there, catching some big air on some the ramps. Don't stop riding.

I have just got my 400ex also. I have been to paire city, and Carnegie. IMO Carnegie sucks and Paire is ok. I am going to go to Pismo for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. I will probally try out hollister this coming tuesday. I am looking for more of actual trails to ride on instead of the beat up rutted out dirt bike places. If you find somthing feel free to share.

Tommyboync congrats on your ATV, and welcome to the forum. I still haven’t made it out to Hollister yet. But I am loving Pismo. I am a casual rider and I will make it out there every other month. Just got back from there this weekend. =)

Hey I went to Hollister today and it was not to bad. I did not get on the intermediate trails due to my tires being bald<new ones ordered> However I had a good time. Not to many ruts and they have a awesome practice track. I will be going back.

Dude, if your'e in San Jose, Hollister is only a little over an hour away. Great place for quads. Tons of one way trails, great practice track. Only drawback is the place gets crowded quick. I heard they've been turning people away on the weekends. Get there early!!!

Hey MellowYellow,

Yea Hollister is pretty close but I hate riding dirt trails at this time of the year. To much dust, I will be staying pretty faithful to Pismo till October.

True Dat:eek2: I couldn't believe how dirty my air filter was after 2 days riding there last week. You like trail riding? Theres tons of stuff up in the mountains but thats a little farther for you.

Up in the Sierras. My favorites are 5 Corners/ Gold Note up past Jackson, White Pines up at Arnold, or Deer Creek/ Crandall Peak in Twain Harte. Check out riderplanet-usa.com Pretty good reviews and directions.
