I have a chance of getting a trx250r, loaded, for 3900. Just to start off, it has durable axle, douglas rims, triple rate shocks... For the engine it has a cylinder sleeve stroker kit, with this stock bore. with it having a stoker kit, therefore the top end being larger, will I have to change the piston more often? and is it possible the bottom end will go a lot quicker? I please need to know this asap, thanks

Having a larger top end shoudn't effect the engines longevity. Just use a premium 2 stroke oil and 93 octane. I always used Klotz in my bikes and banshees, never had a problem. Don't let that issue effect your buying it, if the motor work ws done well. Like I said, just use good oil and gas and you'll be ok.

ok thanks, but the bottom end shouldnt worry me, even if it might have been raced? Is it ok to use a little lower than 93, because I dont believe there is a gas station near me that has 93 octane. thanks guys for your help

If your running a very high-performance stroked race engine, the bottom-end will need to be re-built more often (same case with alota compression)

definatlye try and run 93 octane, ask the seller what he ran. Check the compression thats generally the big factor in running high octane fuel

ok, but how am i going to run a compression test a used quad dealership? its the owner of the dealerships, ill just ask if its ever been raced. so you guys say that if its been raced the bottom end will go faster, does this mean after riding up hills and going off jumps for a summer, id have to get a new connecting rod, bearing, ect..?
I dont want to spend this amount of money if I have to replace the bottom end, which is atleast 500 with labor every season, thanks

Id definitly buy it. No jumping it for a summer wont mean you will have to work on the bottom end when you race a quad you tend to push the machine to the edge and things have a tendancy break quiker or wear out quiker. Id buy it but definitly ask him how much compression he is running. I run 93 just to be safe.
What octain do you have around you? I nmean almost every store around here has 92 or 93 neevr seen one with less i dont think.

To sum it up naw, not really, Im sure you might wanna change ur rings prolly every 1/4 of a year though.

would it be ok just to change the piston and rings after every season.. not racing season, just every winter, every fall, ever summer ect... Im not riding every day, just maybe every other weekend or so for about 4 hours a day.

warrior90- Dont worry about obssesing with the motor going out. If the bottom and top end are in good shape now you will be able to get a lot of good riding out of it. Just change your tranny oil about evey 4 or 5 rides, always keep a clean air filter on it, and I would recommend running atleast 93 and a good oil. Actually I would run a higher octane if available.
