A lady my dad works with is getting a lawsuit filed agaisnt them because their daughter was either...downloading...or put stuff on limewire. The lawsuit had the number around $100,000 :eek2: that fuggin sucks! Suposedly their lawyer is getting her out of the trouble, but thats gonna be some good court costs and lawyer fee's.

But i know several people (cough) who download and nothing happens...or will happen...

im pretty sure if you download small amounts...couple songs here and there, nothing is going to happen. They have way bigger cases to pursue. The companies are trying to go after the people who get the music and stuff on P2P programs like limewire.

How much u download or update means nothing. If u happen to be unlucky enough to hit 1 of those watched/infected files they'll nail you.

Some people get warning letters, some get sued like crazy.

I stopped doing illegal P2P about 3-4 years ago.
Not worth getting sued over.

But theres no way in hell I'll pay 99cents per song, total rip off.

Your most likely to get in trouble for transfering Music/Movies/TV episodes.
I haven't herd anyone getting in trouble yet for downloading software/games in the P2P scene.

Thats true, I just hate seeing the people that have no idea whats going on get nailed.
From what I see, most people that use limewire/torrents have no idea what they are doing can get them sued.

I'm all for P2P tho =)

just like i said in the other thread. Just sign up for a member ship somewhere.

I used to always use bearshare but then when i got my new computer i switched to limewire pro. Needless to say, i wish I would stuck with Bearshare. Its so much better/faster than limewire, and again, you cant get in trouble if you are signing up for the Pro versions. Its just like rhapsody. Pay a monthly or yearly fee and download as much as you would like.

The pro version of limewire is not legal either.
They have no affiliation with the record companies.
Heck, limewire just recently lost a case against the record companies. lol

All the pro version gets is like faster software update and tech support.
Read the website.

The software to share files is legal. The copying of copyrighted material is illegal under most circumstances.
