need help on removing shock springs

How do go about removing springs from shocks, to get them PC'd? When put back on, would I need to get shocks serviced?

i use a press and a bearing seperater as the base to hold the spring.

You can also use a vise and some ratchet tie downs....

Put the shock upside down in the vise and run the strap underneath the top shock mount, which should be in the vise, then run the two rubber coated hooks to the springs and rathet down until you have enough spacing to pull out the retainer.

Be sure to have coated hooks once them springs are coated...
