need to get a new exhaust, i am going to get a slip on, which ones do you like, pictures would help to. also how loud it is, I don't want a really, really loud pipe because my neighbors will get angry. is it true the hmf's are really loud?

Yea i like the hmf. Do sparks come in slip on exhausts though? i'm not sure. I don't really have alot of cash to be throwing around so I can't get a full exhaust.

Im selling my slip on T4 exhaust. Even though I LOVE it, Im getting a CS X6 full system. The t4 sounds amazing though, lemme know,

i think i'm leaning toward either an HMF slip on with quiet core, or a white brothers XCR slip on. Loudness is kind of an issue thats why i would get the quiet core for the HMF. Any other suggestions?

Yoshi full system can be had for about $400 from Rocky Mountain. Very quiet system out of the box.

The Big Gun system seems to be deeper and quieter than the HMF due to it's longer "cannister" (still loud). Makes fantastic Power and the sound is definitely "Big Bore".

By looking at the HMF photo above and this picture you can see the difference in the can length.

Slip on cans tend to give out a bit more bark idk y but they do. My WB E-series full system is quiet. Just tune the discs, I'll see if I can get a sound clip of it tonight.

HMF slip on here. Just put it on today and yeah its loud. HMF says its 102 to 104 db. Getting the quiet core insert(20 bucks) will bring it down to 96 to 98 Db. That is what im doing so i can still ride at night with it.

yea i have a supertrapp with the disk type system, but i need a new exhaust because it's rusted pretty bad. I was thinking either the HMF slip on or white brothers xcr, I keep changing my mind. Its so difficult to choose.

HMF best gains next to Curtis Sparks.

They're hard to find, because they stopped making them two years ago, but IMHO the DMC Alien gives some of THE BEST gains on a stock/lightly modded 400ex.

Ive ridden other stock piped 400ex's and the way the power comes on and the unique sound makes this the best investment i made so far. I would never sell it for another exhaust, even curtis sparks. (i know alot of people would, but it works so well for me i have no reason to get rid of it)

The downside, they are REALLY loud.

I called DMC about a month ago and they said they can still get me a quiet core for it, but i never ordered it because i dont have the time.

(its basically the same thing as the old duncan dual-barrel also, i think they copied DMC actually)

Heres a pipe shootout i found on the internet.

It has the advantage performance (DMC) and duncan dual-barrel in it.

You can see that the DMC is almost up to par with the sparks on the dyno, sparks only made like .5 more hp on a stock bike then the DMC

hey what do you mean when you say your pipe has 18 discs in it? i have a WB E series too, are you talking about the little discs that go between the endcap and the pipe? i have like 7 in there now, and i dont see how you could fit 18?

just look how they used a HMF slip on and it gave one of the higher numbers and most others were full systems. Obviously Curtis Sparks is the best but HMF that was only the silencer hat made that HP number. Very impressive

the HMF made almost 1hp less then the other full systems. I guess its the header that makes that 1 less hp.

But they are pretty impressive for the fact its only a slip-on, and who's gonna notice a 1hp difference?? lol

It's really nice because you can make it just about as quiet as stock, or as loud as you want, just by taking disks out or putting them in. Sounds really nice too. I like it better than my brothers hmf simply because of how quiet you can make it. You can pick up used ones really cheap also.

DONT BUY DG!!

They suck just like cobra.

DG stands for Dollar General when it comes to atv's.

They're so cheap for a reason.

I heard the xcellerator and bullet are alright though:ermm:

And to get the mods at the bottom, go to user cp, then hit edit profile. Theres a box where you can put all that stuff

How's this setup working for you? I'm sure it's nice and quiet, but hows the performance? Bottom? Mid? Top? Everywhere?
