I wanted to elminate some of the venting on the lt80 engine, the air filter stuff and the engine cooling vents,

What do you use> I have seen some spray bottle caps to cap the holes? What has worked well? Have pics? How about a K&N that will mount up to a stock carb---?:macho :macho :macho

This is an accident waiting to happen IMO.

The air filter stuff works very well, that is if you want clean air in the motor.
My motors rev to 12k+ with the stock filter and ducting.
FYI: there is no power to be made by using a K&N, just dirt passing thru a filter (A outerwears is a must for ppl that use a K&N style filter) plus I know of no filter to mount to the stock carb.

The air ducting for the COOLING fan works well also, that is if you want to keep the motor temp down.
I'm guessing that you don't understand the direction of the air flows.:(

man, i am surely not challenging your knowledge on these little guys.. i only want to learn more about them~ opinion, options.

I have seen different set ups on these things and wanted to know what works and what doesn't.. my kids are NOT racing or anythg. they only run in the fields and the woods~

Please don't get me wrong, to alter from stock, you must want power,speed, or a modded/cool appearance. What are you looking to achieve?

well i want performance.. i also want simplicality.. this is a ton of duct work on the from of these engines.. just looking to clean it up!

You can get a pipe. That will pick up some performance.
Other than that, you will need motor and clutch work.

Jack's the man a pipe and some clutch work you can do yourself and your set. Or you can send him the motor if you want Moore power.

etondaddy the one I got from lt80 were the rollers go by were they hit the center he had took alot out so the rollers will come in more. I just had mine off a few weeks ago didnt get a pic. I'm sure its a little more than just cutting some out so the rollers all go in the same but I think it helps alot

The quad already had a DG pipe which isn't the best but..... as per Jack I removed the oil injection drive , removed two rollers, and lightened the clutch shoes to 180gr and it made a h*ll of a difference. We don't race it he just uses it as a woods beater. Those things are solid little quads.

Hey everyone (LT80) check out this modification to a factory carb and air filter. What do you think? It looks clean and alot easier to service than the stock air filter. I was thinking about doing this swap to my sons LT80 because we just ride in the trails and woods near my house.

I know plastic doesn't weigh much but I would like to "clean up" the quad. Maybe it would mess up the whole air system...

That my friend is a DG 20mm carb and not recommended by me.
Every one I've had comes apart at the adapter plate. It's JB welded on (or equivelent) and sure makes you mad when it breaks and the carb falls off.
The stock carb works very well and the stock airbox does an exellent job of filtering the air.
The 20mm w/the K&N filter lets more dirt in period. A outerwears is a must for any K&N but they still let more dirt in then the stock set-up IMO.
I recommend the stock carb/plastic on my race motors. 12k rpm's w/no filtering problems. I think better filtering is more important than the bling. LOL

To each his own, I personnaly don't understand the "cleaning it up" thing, but hey, you'r ride. :D :D

Thanks for the information about the modification. I think I will leave the stock airbox on the quad. It just takes a little longer to get the filter out and clean it. I ordered some Torco oil and will be removing the oil pump this weekend. Your knowledge is invaluable. Hello from sunny Central Florida...where you can ride all year! (except during hurricanes!)

on my kids lt80 we took out the plastic part out that spins the pump didnt look like you needed to take out the pump.and Hello from cold Idaho where you can ride all year! no hurricanes lol

the pipes are $$$ take the stock pipe it was made in 3 pieces the snake piece the spark arrester can and a end cap i carefully cut the welds on the 2 ends of the spark arrester can the end cap will now fit right into the snake piece braize it back together BAM there it is and it honestly works almost if not as good as the fmf fatty pipe that i have installed since

IMO, The stock pipe works well. I can get 11 hp and 11k rpms w/stock pipe.
