looks good,
is that a dremel your using to clean it up? if so what tip are you using?

it is the wire brush tip its like a little circular wire brush

the process i used though

i did the wire brush and got all the orange burnt mud off from the former owner not takin care of it and washing it....

and that basically brought it shiney.. but then i made double sure.. and wet sanded it with 1000 grit sandpaper

then took the polishing wheel on the dremel and applied mothers mag and aluminum polished..

you can see your self in the pipe its so shiney

i still got a little bit more to do.. my wire brush wore out :P

my pipe is the same way but i did it all my hand.
i think the blue magic mag and alum. polish works better on it because its made for stainless steel...

wont it rust after doing that? If i were doin all that work, I would of painted it with some high temp black when I was done.

It wont rust but it will turn a copperish color after you ride it a couple times but atleast it will be clean again.

yeah i did my headers all by hand i used fine sand paper, pb blaster (degreaser) and steel wool to shine it up and smooth it

these pipes wont rust, just be aware that once you apply the polish and remove it, it will still have residue on the pipe so you'll smell something, but it is just the polish burning off.

ive been thinking about cleaning up my headpipe too.... but i dont want to polish it. is there a way to get the brown color out of it without commiting to polishing? also if i paint it high heat black what it needed for prep. not trying to steal your thread Ralphieg.

if you dont want to use polish, just take a wire wheel to it or use some 120 grit - 220 grit sand paper to get the brown stuff off quicker, if you want it shinier, just start using finer sand paper.

the paint should hold up, just make sure you sand it with something close to 220 and clean it with paint thinner or equal cleaner, and finally apply your desired paint. make sure its heat resistant.
