I just got my yfz last saturday and i was wondering on which pipe i should get in the future. Right now im stuck on the hmf and sparks pipes. I would like to her your opinons on both of the pipes. Thanks for responding!

HMF i think absolutely sucks.....I think the HMF is all hype and about the colors they come in....Sparks actually gives you a nice bolt on increase of power....So i'd say SPARKS for sure!!

I thinks all the pipes are basicly the same with the exception that some give more low end and others more top end. They all perform so closly that there really is no best pipe. Just get the one that fits your needs and likes.

sparks all the way... there is no better exhaust imo.

Another vote for sparks.....I have witnessed a sparks pipe and filter making 7 HP over stock. They make power.......plain and simple.

all the pipes are so close, so you can't go wrong with any.

CURTIS SPARKS ALL THE WAY...IT GIVE YOUR THE MOST POWER THROUGHOUT ALL GEARS..AND A LOT OF TORQUE..EXCELLENT SOUNDS ALSO!! VERY LOUD AND DEEP.

Money no object? Sparks. Bang for the buck? Probably HMF.

And one of the previous posters must think everyone who runs HMF is a total idiot. I dont think they got so popular just because they come in pretty yellow. They offer great bang for the buck. There ARE probably better out there, but in my opinion, certainly not for the money. You'll be paying for the slight increase from HMF to Sparks.

i paid $310 for the esr shipped, with ceramic header. most slip-ons cost that much.

If you want to spend some money on a nice pipe look at the DRD exhaust. If you're worried about how much power you will get, get a Racer X, flip through the pictures, and see what the Pro bikes use. I thought Yamaha used White Bro's, and Suzuki used to use Pro Circuit. I think Honda uses FMF. I don't think anyone has figured out these 450 motors aren't futuristic thumpers from space. They are a high-performance lawn mower motor. Anything that works for a 5-horse Briggs works for any single cylinder motor. You guys shouldn't argue over cookie-cutter-exhaust. When 2-stroke prevailed Sparks, Trinity, CT, ect were the way to go on a pipe because the "Parts Unlimited/atv Wal-Mart" brands didn't really have that much for the quads and the ATV ONLY people also built motors that went good with their pipe. BUT NOW, the quad motors are identicel(Yamaha) to the bike and places like FMF and Pro Circuit are the best since they have more money/time invested into making killer exhaust for these 4-stroke motors.

As far as HMF goes, my sister bought one for her Rancher and that was one NICE pipe reguardless of what it costs. They have a slip-on for the YZ and WR and it WILL be the brand I buy for my WR. I have no intentions of going Pro or impressing anyone. I just want it to run good, sound good, and pull a little more from the bottom and you'll get the extra pull with any uncorked muffler. HMF just happens to be the cheapest and they sound mean.

then why get a pipe just uncork the stocker and let her rip, or put a briggs pipe on there and you would be golden, they are cheap and make at least 5 hp.

hmf is a good pipe that is what i ran this year, but if you are going to race gncc and want money run alba. it is a great pipe, or run the gytr pipe. all three are good pipes i am changing for 08 to either alba or gytr

I have personally been looking at the Sparks, the Dr.D , and the DMC Afterburner.

The Dr.D is supposed to be a great pipe. I can't find anything about the Afterburner though.

From what I have read, the GYTR is the worst pipe out there.

STOP taking what you read in ATV magazines to heart. Like I said, flip through a bike magazine and they say totally different things about the same stuff.

Actually I gathered that information from what other users on ATV forums (including this one) have had to say about it. No magazines.

i got a full hmf on my yfz450 and i am very happy with it, i previously had a sparks on it and it did have a little more bottom, i think the hmf flows better than the sparks and i got a killer deal on it.free

ok, since last post didn't have anything to do with thread, I would go with a Sparks. I have a friend that has a sparks on it with a k&n with some new holeshots and he is pactically always pulling roost up and the sound is so loud and deep, just an awsome sound. No matter what is it a great pipe, just ask everyone who has one. The HMF i am not sure of, i have gotten to many mixed replies about them. You'll be glad you got a Sparks trust me and everyone else who say to get one. ;)

air-flow... ie volumetric efficiency is all about the intake system and the head design. 5 titanium valves and dual overhead cams, dry sump oil system, liquid-cooled to maintain a more consistent combustion, an engine controller to maintain proper spark at all operating speeds. There is an incredible amount of advanced technology and hardware to get an engine to redline at over 10,000rpm. the briggs might get to 2000rpm

The fact that its a single cylinder engine has nothing to do with the amount of technology that is in this engine.

5hp briggs and stratton engines don't have a tenth of what this engine has. Their mentality is dependability and being cost effective

If yamaha was designing the YFZ450 based on that mentality, they wouldn't have a class leading race quad. so, for me, what briggs and stratton does for a pipe is not good enough for a race quad engine...

I have been looking around and ive been seeing alot of different thoughts of HMF pipes which to me cancels it out. Now for Sparks i really havent heard much negative comment about thier pipe or actually any bad comments at all. They will give you power and they will give you low end. I get this from a friend who has a yfz with it. I also havent heard any negativety about Dr.D exhausts as well. Actually im now deciding whether to go with Dr.D or Sparks. I might go with Dr.D just cause my friend has one:p

I just know i can get alot more power out of my bike from a Sparks or a maybe a Dr.D. From what i seen i can get alot more low end from a sparks which is what i want.
