i spent all day polising stuff on my 400 w/ my dremmel. i tried to use paint stripper but that didn't work. so i had to use the little wire brush. then i bought a cleaning and polishing kit for the dremmel with the polishing compound and i works great. but it takes to long. and the little polishing pad wares out to fast anyone know something better and faster?

Thats the one drawback to using a dremmel, it's only designed for smaller projects. The best thing would have been to find an air-powered mini die grinder, along with the polishing wheels for it.

I used a cordless drill with a wire brush and then some emrry(sp?)
cloth, and some Mothers polish and my res. cap looks good.

I wouldn't use a wire brush...I start off by sand blasting the part to get the paint off, then start sanding with 220 grit paper...slowly work your way to 600 grit, then buff it with some steel wool, and lastly apply some Mothers. If done right it will come out looking like a mirror.

BTW, don't polish stuff like the brake pedal, shifter, etc...those type of parts will rust.

if you odn't have a sandblaster, take the paint off with steel wool or a berillo pad. it's works fast. then use mothers on the aluminum parts, it works great

It would take you years to polish the side cases with a Dremel!!! You should get you a die grinder and some 4 inch wheels!! Then get you some polishing compunds and go to work!!! Much easier that way! But what i did is went to Harbor Freight and got a bench grinder for $29, then took the grinding wheels off and put some buffing wheels on,,,thats even better and faster!!! But I did get a Dremel and Die grinder for the hard to reach places too!!!
What is the best way to get the paint off the cases beside sandblasting??? Air craft stripper, Brillo pads???
