Ive herd alot of people talk about laeger aarms and I was looking into the protrax front end I read that they use Heim joints and Ive heard nothing but bad things about heim joints. Tell me what you think.

as long as you maintain the heims there really aint anything wrong with them. If you abuse and fail to maintain they go to hell.

heims are tons stronger then ball joints. and all of laegers heims have grease zerks on them.. they are the best a-arms on the market.

I've had both setups as well as LSR DC-4. I prefered the protrax over the other two. It is a very well engineered package. They do require a lot of maintance, but I raced one for a complete season xc with no problems.

You can't go wrong with Laeger's. I've used them on 4 different bikes now. I currently have a pro-trax on a 450R and absolutely love it. You just need to know how to mainten them.

Heims would be stronger if they were used correctly on our quads, but they're not. They are designed for an in and out force, and this is not typical of how they are set up on a quad.

I still prefer sealed balljoints to an open heim any day, but like said, take care of them and they can last a decent time, though never as long as a sealed balljoint.

all laeger heims are sealed.. these aren't your cheapy "heim " a-arms that you see guys get for a few hundred dollars in kits with shocks and everything.

If I count correctly laeger added 16 grease zerks to my bike . even the steering stem on my 400ex had 2 greese zerks cause the tie rod was heims on both end. now just the spindle end is a heim.

I also prefer sealed balljoints, there almost maintenance free.

You can't even grease/lube most open hiems, metal and metal contact let alone all the sand and mud that gets in there from every day riding.
They do look a lot better though :P

If you are shopping for Arms, make sure you include Walsh. I can't say enough good things about them!

Yah, i would buy walsh or jb imo. I think they make the best products.

It depends on what type of riding/racing you do too. For MX, Walsh and JB are two of the best. But for XC, ARS-FX and Houser are two of the best.
