look in your "device manager" to see if thre are any errors, particularly ones related to sound devices.

could be a "codec" problem..

was it just in the internet explorer window?

I used Firefox and went back to IE.

On the right side of your toolbar, open up Volume and see if you your volume turned all the way down.

If that doesn't work, restart your computer. Sometimes the sound on my computer won't work, but once I restart my computer it'll work.

go to the control panel, click [system], select the [hardware] tab, then click the device manager button.

look for anything with an exclamation point or a red X.

has your sound ever worked on "streaming" video?

try plugging headphones into the same jack to see if the speakers are the problem. Just an idea, but alot of times the input jacks get loose and dont make a solid connection

well nothing is working and i dont get it

i looked in my device manager, nothing seems to be wrong
i hooked my head phones straight into my computer, still faint sound

this computer isnt that old and yes it did have sound on streaming videos before it played sound where ever

here the thing that realy gets me tho

if i try to listen to something on the internet i barley get sound

now if i download a video or song off the net it has perfect sound

it all worked until i shut my computer down and took it out of my room for about 2 weeks

you could always do a 'system restore'.. hopefully you have a recent restore point.

[start] [programs] [accessories] [system tools] [system restore]

from there its fairly self explanitory.. the older the restore point, the more updates youll need afterward.

Try updating your sound drivers. Did the trick for me.

Your computer automatically makes restore points every once in awhile.

I would try updating your drivers.
