I was looking at getting a new sub and head unit here lately. So I decided to go to a local audio shop (x factor audio) and check some prices. When I got over there I started talking with one of the dudes about a complete new system. All of the products are from kicker. He gave me a price estimate of $1,000. It includes install kit, install harness, wire kit for amp, vented box, 12inch sub, 1800 watt amp, door speakers front and back, free tweeters, and that price includes installation. He said they would use 4 gauge wire also. Is this a good price. BTW I went to another audio shop and they didn't really spend the time with me that this guy did and do prices and stuff like that, this place that gave me an estimate had really good customer service. They also put in 2 of my friends systems and I was impressed with the quality work and the time they did it in. Also he knocked off prices here and there and gave me lower prices than what they had on the stuff since it was a package deal. But what I am asking is is this a good deal. I don't want to go cheap because I know that you get what you pay for, but I don't want to spend anymore money than I have to!

I can get my cousins husband to help me put it together, because he did the first one. Does anyone know where to find install harness and that other stuff or have any idea on how much it cost?

you can go to your local system shop (obviously) or walmart but remember you get what you pay for

I ordered from that site and everything is great. They are also on Ebay with 82,088 feedback 99.4% positive.

Another person from here has also used them and had no problems.

I have the same subs in my car and I am very happy with them. They hit hard and sound clean through all volume levels. They sound better and hit harder with a slot style port rather than a classic circle port. I have them run in series from a kicker amp putting out 1200 watts x 1.

The head unit will sound good. The higher volts that it puts out to your amp will generally equal to better sound out of your amp. 2 volts is good for a mid end system, which is what you are building. The only problem that you will run into with powering the internal speakers off your head unit is the subs over powering your internal speakers when turned up. This is easily solved with another amp to power your them. I have a 90w x 4 MTX amp that fixed that problem. You can get a decent amp for around $150. Another limitation of that head unit is the lack of tuneability. But, if you are not building a SQ level system or are an audiophile then you most likely not need this and not notice the lack of proper sound imaging.

The second set of links are all good components. I cannot stress enough the need for another 4 channel amp to power your 6x9's and components. These will sound poor when powered by the 19w RMS of the head unit. The following link is a Kicker 4x90 RMS amp for $99 that will sound great. http://www.audiosavings.com/product_details.aspx?item_guid=c62f1ab3-5d34-4cd3-8317-04faf8e823b5

For what you are trying to build, this system will sound great.

Good luck

??? When I was in car audio, 1000 watt amp cost about $1000:eek2: Anyways, I was told 6x9 was a bad speaker to use for a system. They praised using a 5" or 6" coax for sound purposes. When I got into it, I went in stages almost! I always wanted bigger and louder and wasted alot of money doing it that way. If you think you'll get serious about your audio then your better off doing once versus 3-5 times, you'll save ALOT of money:D Another thing, don't cheese out on anything either:)

Or you can install it yourself and save a ton of money. I just bought a complete system,

2 Polk 12"s
Polk 500.1 for them

Polk 5" Coaxial doors
Audiobahn 3.5" Coaxial Dashes

I am amping them too, with a Polk 400.4.

Headunit is a Clarion VRX775VD, the motorized touchscreen headunit with iPod cable.

I got a wiring kit from my local shop.

All in all, Buying it name brand from manufactorer would have cost me about 2400$ I spent a total of 1400$ with accessories.

All local shops will make everything sound better than you think or what it is. Just do your research. There are so many brands with so many models it does get confusing. I came into knowing nothing. But there are forums and sites with FAQs to help you.

This is the greatest site that I have found before, and believe me, i have been through alot. www.sonicelectronix.com

Every single one of there prices are 30=50% lower than retail. And even if you find it cheaper - you cant go wrong with service and shipping quality.

In car audio you typically pay alot for name brand equipment. Price doesn't always = better quality. You can get really good sounding components for, say, $500 from Focal, but unless you are building a SQ system there is no need. You can get great sounding stuff way cheaper then the name brand. The best advise I can give you is to do your research, look for deals, and do not rush into buying something because it looks cool or is cheap. Another think... Have fun with it.

thats a pretty good setup.. frequency is covered from 25 - 21000Hz.
you might even consider another amp for the fronts and rears.

the head unit is exactly what id be looking for, with USB up front.. i have the Clarion equivelant(has a few more whats per channel) http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2006/audio/source_units/cd/DB365USB/us-en-product-pf_1134643389085.html

edit:
funny tidbit.. i drive a club cab truck and bought a stereo with a remote..
at first i never used it, after all the knob is only about 3ft from my shoulder.
but inevidably i started using it, so i wouldnt take my eyes from the road.(mostly because im lazy and didnt want to raise my arm)

well.. like all remotes, i lost it.. sadly i was spoiled by it and am now willing to throw money at a new one.
im such a lazy bastage..:blah:
