Check your emergency brake switch, located on the left side of the handle bars. There are 2 switches, one for clutch lever and the other goes to the emergency brake cable. If the small emerg lever is out of place by just a little it kicks in the rev limiter. The easiest thing to do is follow the wires under the hood and disconnect the plug.I forget if its normal open switch or normally closed switch, you may have to jump them together.I've had the same problem a few different times and did the same as you, cleaned the carb, oops!

Didn't mean to state Warriors have seperate rev limiters, agreed they don't, simply stated when the emergency brake was engaged the CDI box will limit rpm's and that could be the cause of his problem

I had this exact same problem and did the same exact thing, only I almost bought a new carb ($275). When I went to pay for it, the salesmen told me to check that wire. I owe that guy a beer.:D
