ever since i got my 400 it has been leaking oil. i'll buy new top end gaskets and put them on and it will leak from somewhere else....im not quite sure where it is leakin from now but i think it is from the head gasket or the cam chain tensioner.....any suggestions?

where is the oil coming from?
is there any motor work done to it?
if so it could be because it has higher compression than stock and its blowing head gaskets all the time.
also check the gaskets on the left and right side cases.

i think its coming from the head gasket....but im not sure....and i have kibblewhite black diamond valves, high compression piston, jet kit, racing coil and and air filter....

Wash the motor up really good, run it and see where its coming from. Get a good degreaser and you should be able to spot it then.

do they make any heavy duty head gaskets that wont blow since a have a high compression piston? im pretty sure its comin from the head gasket...but it mite be coming from the cam chain tensioner

So, its coming from the back of the engine?

If you keep putting OEM head gaskets in it, then that is more than likely the problem.

Order a head gasket from CT, Duncan....one of the engine builders. Tell them what you have and they can set you up.

I think Cometic or either Felpro makes head gaskets for the 400ex. I had to put one on mine when I rebuilt it last time. Copper was shiny:devil:

yeah.....it slowly runs down the back by the cam chain tensioner and leaks down the right side of the motor

i cleaned it up today and i found out that it is leaking from the cam chain tensioner.....what should i do?

I thought only big bores would make you easily blow seals? High compression piston should really make your seals go

Replace the gasket.
