hello i have a 02 400ex stock motor i have never ran it low of oil or anything like that but now i have a clattering sound in the motor so i drained the oil and ran a magnet threw it and i'm finding alot of metal fileings in the oil filter. i figure it could be anything but dose anyone have a idea what this could be from? thanks adam.

how big are the filings and how many. if your oil is full of it you may have over heated it or somemthing may have caused you to scoar up your cylinder pretty bad. theres obviously a lot tthings in there that could produce metal shavings its hard to say exactly if there arent too many then i would drain and redrain because just a few is kind of typical

pull the filter from the oil tank, make sure it isnt plugged, starving the motor for oil
