im looking for a 2 stroke but cant decide between the banshee or a 250R. i do plan to race motocross, but 80% of the time i will be riding fireroads, dirt roads, paved roads, dry lake beds, fields, powerlines, and very little woods.

How much does a HP does a pipes Banshee and piped 250r have? which is more fun to ride? which is more reliable? what is the top speed of them? i have about 3K to spend but would like to get one for less. i want to make the right decision and dont want to be smoked by piped shees.

If I were you I would go with the 250r. The Banshee is a strong bike but I hate the way they ride. The Banshee feels like you are riding on top of it, while the 250r feels like you are riding "inside" it. A guy I used to ride with had a Banshee and it seemed like he was always complaining about something. Meanwhile, I did nothing but smile as I punished him on the trails. The 250r is the greatest quad ever. They are old, but parts are always available.

For $3K you might as well forget a 250R. You'll never find anything decent for that price. You MIGHT find a decent Banshee for that price if you shop around and have time to spare.

The Banshee will always have more HP given equal levels of mods.

They are both reliable but remember the NEWEST 250R you can get is already 14 years old.

The 250R will certainly be the better MXer but the Banshee excels at high speeds.

If it wasn't for the mx part is sounds like a Banshee id perfect for you.
