06 raptor or 07 trx450

hey guys i was in the market for a sport quad and i came across a used 2006 raptor 700 with a DRD slip on exhaust or a brand new 2007 TRX450 stock.
the raptor is 7000$ and the trx is 6700$.
im up in canada so the prices are steep compared to you americans lol. help me out in the decision. im leanin toward the new 450.? thnx

it really depends on what kind of riding you want to do.. i would suggest www.raptorforum.com and look at some of the raptors on there for sale. im sure you can come up with something better than 7k. You wont be dissapointed in the raptor unless you are big into motocross

I say TRX 450. 450 seems much more versatile than a raptor

How exactly does the 450 seem "much more" versatile?

IMO the 700R has a more comfortable riding position, which combined with the torque and reverse gear makes it pretty much able to do anything (with the exception of mx of course) almost as good if not better than a 450R.

I think the issue here is price, I'd have a hard time spending more for a used machine than a brand new one, especially if the used machine doesn't have any kind of worthwhile modifications. How much are new 700R's selling for in that area?

Depends on where you ride

700r - trails, wide-open, woods, general all-aroundness

450r - track, some trails, wide-open

The 700 is alot better for all around, but the 450 will be better for racing/track.

It's still for sale and it is in awesome shape. Fast isn't the word. Tons of power. A great all around bike. I moved on to XC racing and want to get rid of it as it has sat for the last 4 months. Only taken out to warm it up and move it around. I am in NJ.

i wont be racing it at all on a MX course. maybe just the drag here and there against my friends quads/bikes.
A 2007 raptor brand new here is going for 8600$ plus tax. theres a used one 2007 for $7000 with some minor mods. and the TRX450R brand new 6700$ plus tax

heres the used one , its got some scuffs on the fendors and stuff but no big deal.

hey drdsraptor.. im in canada remember and shipping is lot of money.. im lookin for a local sale unless you can somehow cover the 600+ shipping charges lol... oh yea and theres like a 6% duty fee on stuff that crosses the border... damn border rape.

for the riding you do theres no way i would get anything else other than a 700 rappy

Mine is better than any stock one with all of it's mods. There's the 6500 + 600 shipping + 6% = approx. $7500. you still make out. You'd be getting over $3000 in extras. Anyhow I understand but where there is a will there is a way.
