They're kind of apples to oranges. They are similarly fast though.

Well i cant stand Yamaha so I would do the 450.

I knw they are different. I have my raptor and have it very modified. Since I started XC racing it's too much bike engine and weight. Trails its awesome. And outright faster than any 450 I have come across. And I own a TRX 450r. Anyhow good luck.

my buddy has a new 700, i was really impressed with it. In the sand it didnt seem to have much balls, once in 3rd it just straight hauled *****. I like my 450 better, it suites me better, but for a bigger guy like my friend its perfect.

i had both bikes. stock for stock, a raptors better all around imo.

soft suspension, good power, reverse, fuel injection. downsides are it doesnt handle as well as a 450, heavier, ect.

it really depends on how you ride. i prefer my 450 at the dunes obviously. only on the trails now BECAUSE i spent money doing some upgrades. stabilizer. shocks, ect. its just more agile and i can throw it around better then a raptor, plus it rides smooth now.

that is with money invested though. with money in a raptor, it will still probably ride smoother, but its bigger/heavier.

thats my non-biased opinion. i like both bikes, ive thought of buying another raptor sometimes, but they are both great bikes. the 450 is going to require more maintance also. my cousin neglects his 700 pretty badly and it keeps going lol.

My raptor is modded to beat just about any 450 in a straight line. Tons of torque and plenty up top to keep on walking on a 450. In the tight stuff and in rcing the raptor just plain wears me out. I am no small guy and quite strong. So apples to oranges the 450 has made me turn quicker lap times by upto 3 minutes on the same track. XC racing this is. Yes a 450 requires more maintainance, yes the raptor has more power, It comes down to preference

X2, trx450r can be transformed into more to suit your needs. Race track is where it dominates and trails a few little things will make it just as good as others. 450r weighs less and is much more maneuverable and doesnt seem as top heavy as a raptor does. the raptor I think is yamahas best quad or, the only yamaha I would ever buy would be the raptor but if it came down to the 2 I would choose a 450r.

I chose a 400ex over the 450r because I like it better in the trails and goofing around and the easy maitenance.

thanks for your guys opinions, much appreciated.. i rode a 2007 raptor the other day and it felt realyl friggin cool, lots of power and it could wheelie no problem.
the raptor i rode had a DRD header and DRD muffler on it with a fuel programmer(i think thats what its called) it seemed loud as ****.. i loved it man.. im wondering if i can get a 450 to be that loud and sound as good as that raptor?? sorry if these are stupid questions, im just getting into the sport quad scene. thnx again

alright....heres my opinion other than yamaha sucks. if you want to be able to do EVERYTHING and not have a problem get the 700. You can hill climb, trail ride, race, and keep up with a car on the freeway if thats what ya wanna do but If you wanna be able to do EVERYTHING and have fun doing it. Then get the 450R. There are a couple exhausts for the 450r you wont even want to be in the same room.

GOOD POINT. i understand the raptor is a bigger bike and not as stable at the 450. im a fairly small guy (170 pound) and i dont want something thats hard to throw around. ill have to test out a 450 and see what it feels like. thnx again guys.
i still cant get over how loud that raptor was. i coudl feel it in my chest at idle and when reved it was like a heart attack. :D

If you are truly looking to throw it around go 450. The Raptor is a great all around quad with most potential for power but it has the most heft and will tire anyone out quicker than the 450 class.

I originally had the DR D on mine but switched to DMC duals. Better sound not as obnoxious. But still loud enough.

It all depends on what style your going to ride. But in my opinion would go with the 450r because you can do everything with it. The raptor has the power but its geared towards trail riding. You can set it up for mx and other thing but that cost money were the 450r is already to go for everything.
