What does the stock CDI box look like on the 400ex? I bought my 400 used and am not really sure of what mods it had done or if any. I bought a White Bros CDI and it looks exactly like the one on my 400 now. could someone post a pic of their stock CDI box

If it is stock, HN1 will be stamped on it somewhere.

The white bros box should be a little smaller as it is a xr250 box and usually has "WB" engraved on it. This is atleast what my old WB box did. Honestly that box is a piece of crap, causes hard starting, the extra rpm's aren't needed unless you have a built bike. Take it back or atleast save yourself $60 and just get an xr250 box which is the same. Or run what I have found to be the best cdi on the market and the cheapest. http://www.procomengineering.com/ there box is $45 brand new, and is a completely custom built aftermarket box, not a xr250 box, it doesn't cause hard starting or battery issues, and adds around 1100 additional rpm as well as a minor timing change to hopefully increase hp. You won't be dissapointed especially for the money!

Consider yourself lucky, i had one got rid of it after 1 weekend worth riding. It is just an xr250 box, when I found that out it made me even more mad that I paid so much for a stock honda part that retailed for only $60 new. WB even warns you when you buy the thing "may cause hard starting if your battery is not fully charged"

I guess i am pretty lucky. My battery can be nearly dead and barely turn the engine over and it will crank. I figured it was just an xr box. I only paid like $25 for it on ebay.
