Not sure how many people do a z400 hybrid but here's mine. I decided to take the plunge and do it. Its a 2006 kx450f motor with a high comp wiseco piston and ported and polished head and i'm gonna put a set of stage two hot cams in. Tell me what you think so far guys. PS it needs a good bath!

Yeah Dude! Great project!!! I love it!

Ha, the Kicker won´t clear the frame ... You are telling all this guys that they´re wrong.

I hope you´ll post more pictures in the near future!

THanks for the reply. I am super excited to get this done and yes i did do it to prove everyone wrong that said it can't be done. I have an idea for teh kicker to clear the frame so don't worry about that :)

Those are supposed to be sick motors. Is yours the 4-speed or the newer 5 speed?

Probably will be worlds apart from the Z400. This seems like a better hybrid idea than most of the 400ex CRF450's because it's already setup for a radiator.

Are you going to go back to green like a KFX400?

Tomorrow I will post photos of a LTR engine in an Z-Frame.

@Ineedaex00
It seems if you changed the front brackets of the engine a little bit. It looks like welding in this area.
Otherwise it seems as if you used the original engine mounting spots.
How did the swingarm fit into the rear engine mounting. Did you have to cut something?

This engine swap is so straight forward its amazing. The swingarm bolt goes right through the back of the motor and the cases are the perfect width to fit between the swingarm mounts. I move the front stock z400 engine mounts forward about 1/4" and so with the bottoms too. I used the existing front engine mounts and I also used the bottom mounts and bolts too. The only problem is that the carb hits the upper shock mount but I machined a couple peices at work to fix this problem and it will be stronger when done than they come stock :D . I wanted to keep it all suzuki but i couldn't find a rmz450 motor for the price i got this one for so I guess this will have to do :p .

So, here are the promised photos. It´s a 2006 LTR engine in a 2004 LTZ frame. But this is not a new project! I did this just for fun. My buddy blew his LTR transmission. In order to repair the transmission we had the LTR engine out. At the moment I´m reassembling my LTZ after I had bent my frame this season. So it was just a silly idea to put this LTR engine in my LTZ frame :D

But maybe this photos help other people who ever thought about putting an LTR engine in a LTZ frame. But I don´t know if the LTR engine is similar to a RMZ450 engine ...

Not sure if you got my message in my kx450f hybrid forum but the front sprocket is way off to the right side. You plan on modding the counter shaft or playing in the back with the sprocket. Do you have pic's of the peices you made to clear the upper shock mount. I ran into that aswell and moved the motor to where everything would work for me.

Darn near finished guys. Waiting on kfx450r water pump cover that points toward the front of the quad instead of the kx450f one that goes straight up and kick start knuckle to extend kicker and exhaust is all worked out but not on. sprockets line up like stock and perfect.

Great, but could you show us detailed photos how you finally managed to put the carb in!?
I´m not sure and i can´t discover this on your latest photos!
So please, post pics!

Alright I will see if I can take some pictures of the mount I built. It needs some final welding to get the frame all done and ready to send out for powdercoat. It looks pretty good I think all finished up and it looks as if it came with that engine.

Hey guys i'm just about ready to strip down the quad and get the frame and subframe powdercoated. Just wondering what you guys though would look good for the frame and subframe the same color or frame and subframe different color.

Hey guys the project hybrid is just about 100% complete. All that I am waiting on is the shock rezzy clamps and lower steering stem bushing. It looks absolutely awesome I believe with the gloss white frame. Let me know what you think. I've got to get some piece welded on my nerfs so they mount back up to the front engine mounts and extend teh kx450 shifter so my foot slides underneath and shave the rear fender to clear the kicker. Also cut off the ac nerf bar heel gaurd too.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j112/uglywarrior87/Picture066.jpg

Intake Pics. The entire upper shock mount was cut out and the actual shock mount was welded to a solid piece of 1" B7 material and the .250" ciruclar piece was welded on the end of that to clear the intake boot. I cut a dog out of the ciruclar piece so both sides fit into the circular piece to add in strength.
