Z400 Vs. 416ex winner?

ok so i have a set up i want for a 400ex
416 kit, sparks exhaust, sparks cdi, jetted... stuff like that

vs.

a z400 with nothing but a rev box and a yoshi pipe on it... my friend seems to think his z400 would beat my 416ex.... in an all out drag race how much would i lose by if i'd lose at all.

my money is deffinately on the 416. Curtis Sparks makes way better exhaust than Yoshimura, plus you have the extra 19cc. You both have the rev box so that is the same if you 2 were stock but with your mods you should deffinately kick his lilly a**

idk but hes been riding longer than i have, ive always been a Honda man... hes been Suzuki since he got his first Z400 i was telling him my idea of buying a 400ex and putting the 416 kit and hooking it up... then he starts saying that his Z400 would still be faster.... i have a 300ex right now and i keep up with his z400.... not his MX one but his trail one im right behind him....

If i had to say which quad would win given equal skill riders. I'd say the 416 could by a little bit. 12:1 comp pistion, cams, maybe porting.

As a side note, i personally think you should grow a pair of balls and put him in his place. There is plenty of evidence that no 450 or brand is better than any other. They all have their good points and bad points.

very true TRX450r is my favorite and personal choice. My friend has the YFZ, his brother has the LTR, and his dad has the TRX. Ride them all and my favorite is deffinately the honda. It has awesome power and is much better handling IMO. I think YFZ450's handle like crap...

ok I've done almost the same race you're looking for..I've got a buddy with an 04 z400, titanium 4 can and mid pipe, k&n, rejetted, and 13t front sprocket. I've got a 416 ported polished head stock cam (haven't gotten around to getting a new one yet) hmf slipon, uni filter, rejetted and the same gearing as hime. 13 front 38 rear.

in an all out drag race we took off and my tires aren't the best so I stun through 2nd into 3rd and he has brand new razr's on the rear he took off pretty good. all this and I still won.

tell him when you get the 416 done, broke in and ready to race that he's on. but when the race is over you don't wanna see him crying cause his zuki was beat by a honda.

Second, He should have mentioned that I almost sold my mx z for a 450r a few weeks ago. He knows the only reason I didn't buy it was because it didn' have the amount of mods I need/want for the track.
About the 416 vs z400. I'm sorry guys but I'm going by personal experience. My good friend had an 04 416ex, with a carbon fiber rs3 roshi, jets, titanium valves, and a +1000 rev box. Him and I started riding about the same time so skill level was pretty much the same. I might have gone a bit overboard when I told Klutch that I BLEW by him, but in all honesty I was atleast a bike ahead at the end of the airstrip( My friends father works in a privte airport and we're allowed to ride on the strip aslong as no planes are on route :blah: ). And klutch, what the hell are you talking about that your 300 is right next to my 400? In those trails we rode the other day, there were mud puddles every ten feet or so, Ofcourse you'd be right behind me. You know well enough my yellow z is much more powerful, and faster then your 300ex.

Also, guys I'm not a retard.... I know any 450 is better then my z400. However I believe My z is setup much better then a stock 450, and allows me to ride faster then I would if I were on a 450. I can compare a stock, or mildly modded 450 to my 400.

Listen, sometimes I get a little out of hand with the down talking, but its not like klutch doesn't do it to. We'll be watching racer tv or something, and out of no where he'd say something like " Oh look, not one single suzuki in there". Teenage boys will be teenage boys. Lets leave it at that and lets go riding!

i have a 416ex with nothing else done to it and i beat my buddy by atleast 5 quad lenghts
BTW he had a better start then me .. i let the clutch out too much and hit grab bar.. still blew him away

Im the one that "klutch's" sisters boyfriend beat. it was my 416ex.
i sold my 416ex and bought a Z400 afterward and loved it. then went back and got a 450R. and now I ride a Banshee.


He DID beat my 416ex .400ex's are just naturally slow. I hated mine and got rid of it ASAP.


Moral of the story....

Get a Banshee and beat everyone.

The 400EX is heavy compared to a banshee? The dry weight on a banshee is 386 pounds. No oil or gas or water im sure. The CURB weight on the 400EX is 410 pounds with EVERYTHING ready to ride, full tank of gas and all.

full of gas would add roughly 20 pounds to the banshee, and its pretty much caught up to the 400EX. No oil or water in yet.

They weigh very similar.

As far as handling in the tight woods do you really think you can use a banshee's 50 horsepower in those tight wood sections? Of course not, its powerband is completely wrong for the woods, the 400EX's is perfect. Simple as that. What is the use of being ablet o go faster if you cant even use it?

The 400EX would win in the woods, even if the riders were only moderately close in skill.

I may be wrong but it sounds like you're contradicting yourself. Your saying you'll beat someone with equal skill because of your quad.

Equal riders on different quads should be equal results.

I will say I think it takes more skill to ride a Banshee in the woods. Maybe a 'different' type of skill is a better description...

Actually a banshee is a downgrade from a 400ex. You went into the past. Not trying to be mean but a banshee is good for going fast in a straight line and thats about it. At least get a 250r but a Banshee? Their throttles are unbelievable hard, they suck down so much gas yet they arent that much faster for all the gas their using, handling sucks, its a stinky quad. If I wanted a quad like a banshee I would just go to the John Deere store.

In tight or tight ish woods. The 400EX, in everything else the 250R. But the 250R has legendary handling, unlike the banshee.

400ex FTW, IMO one of the best trail quads ever. tight handling, supporting suspension, and perfect amount of torque and power. Banshee's are quick, but for trails? youve gotta be joking.

400ex's are great for the trails. in the case of a banshee vs a 400ex in tight trails. i think the 400 would get you in the corners, you might get away in the straights, but the guy on the 400 is the one that will have to call the medics when you miss that corner and run into that big oak tree and **** yourself up.

True they're only good in straight lines, but if you invest in a-arms, axle, and shocks, they can handle pretty good.
The problem is you wouldnt get your money back if you went to sell it:(

It'll never be an excellent trail quad though, it wasn't built for that.

I had a banshee and rode trails and loved it, but then I got smart and got my ex and I don't regret it, it's a blast on the trails.

It all depends on rider. I think we've gotten to much BS to make a clear desicion though.

I know I can beat most stock and mildly modded 450's in a straight line on my 440. On an MX track I tend to leave the 450's, and its mostly because im more at home on an MX track.:D

As long as your not stock, no problem. I got a friend with a kfx 400 (very simular to the z400) and i'm piped and jetted, he has nothing on me exept hes a scrawny little guy which weighs 40 lbs less then me. I smoke him in take off, badly. Top end, he SLOWLY rears up, but it takes a long track for him to win. Now if i had a new revv box..that would be another story.

Race him, start out in first, second, and third, and even do rolling races. When you totally smoke him everytime, watch as he makes the excuses. Feel good when that part occurs. Just be safe, dont hurt yourself..im not encourageing you to if your going to be stupid about it :P

But stock..no question the kfx would smoke you in everyway on a drag, trails you should be doing great, we trade everyonce in awhile and its just hard to get used to it, to me it feels too tippy and steering isnt as smooth as the ex.

a built 450r i dont know about, but i know stock for stock my old still Z400 Tanked my friends 450R with no problem, all i had was an FCR37 From a YZ250F and my airbox lid off, and i would beat him consistently from start to finish and had no trouble running him down, but he whooped my *** on anything the required rapid-rate suspension kause th stock Z suspension sucks hardcore

My YFZ handles pretty good on a MX track. I took second place in my first race. It had stock a-arms. Now I have +2-4 Housser A-arms with +1 Housser Swing Arm. with PRM Axle with Elka shocks.
