I am trying to sell my bashee to get a 400ex but just can't yet . The only reason why selling my quad is cause of it being a 2 stroke. I was thinking of putting a 4 stoke motor in the fame and making a good quad not sure if worth it and if so what motor and about how much will it cost thanks guys.

there is somone on here that did it. i think they put a YZF426 motor in it. but the only thing is it wouldnt handle like a 400ex hybrid/250r hybrid :ermm:

No big deal there would be suspension mods and what not.

Id say keep the banshee and swap a 4-stroke in it. Can you weld? yz400f, yz426f, yz450f, or of course yfz450 engine. Also if im correct the yfz450 a-arms and shocks swap over which should help solve your suspension upgrade. I would say keep it all yamaha.

also you should have no trouble selling the banshee engine.

Dose anyone have any idea of how much it will cost to do the motor.

I think the machine that twisted dinli is refering to is a Leager framed YZ426/banshee. If I remember correctly it had a pro trax 250r geometry front frame section and I believe cr500 link rear suspension all mated to banshee plastics and radiator.

As far as suspension mods you could do all you want and probably would never handle like a 250r or 400ex based chassis. The banshee geometry is quite a bit different. I'm not saying good or bad I will just leave that up to each individual.

As far as price for the swap. What ever you figure it will cost, save up twice that amount.

I'm not going to say that it's a bad idea, but in the end the resale value might not be what you think it would. And as far as actually doing the swap it takes quite a bit more than just the ability to weld. Getting it done and getting it done correctly are two entirely different things. I'm not necessarily trying to talk you out of doing it, but their seems to be some pretty good deals on some machines for sale.

I am not worried about the work that it takes making the quad, and the resale value isn't a big deal eather. I am just woundering the cost cause if I don't sell or or trade my quad for a ex I am building this one. I would rather sell my quad or trade it, but if I can't get what I want this Is what I am going to do. Anymore input or more ideas would be nice.

i say not, banshees dont handle very well like said before go with the 400ex/250r geometry. Sell the banshee and just get the 400ex or something. If you still want a hybrid 400ex go with the XR650 motor in it. Thats what I plan on doing when i get the cash and can find the motor. I have seen 75HP on a XR650 motor in a 400ex it was crazy.

For u guys out there with a 250r are they a relyable. Cause before I come up with the money to make it a hybrid i will drive it stock or piped and bored. How are they for preformance and just with the 250r motor on it. ALso how big of a hybird motor will i fit in the 250r thanks.

Yes 250R's are pretty reliable, mine's probably been rebuilt like twice in almost 20 years im sure. and it runs great.

If one of your reasons for getting rid of the banshee is because its a 2 stroke, dont get a 250R.

In my opinion the cost of the banshee conversion (motor cost mostly) would be so much that i think you should just sell the banshee for whatever you can get, add the money for the conversion, and you could have enough to buy a 400EX without too much trouble at all.

Also, to further that point. I think as it stands the banshee has too much power for th at chassis, especially after mods. and so would a YFZ450 motor. So when you say there will be suspension upgrades thats just more money that could be spent on a 400EX instead.

Personally, i think its the most retarded thing to do ever, putting a 4-poker in a banshee chassis.

The main reason people buy banshees is the motor! That screaming powerband that made it a legend!

They dont buy them for the handling, looks, or anything else.

It is completely pointless to do that hybrid.

Sell your banshee, advertise on craigslist/ebay/monkeyads/etc.

Use the money and then buy the atv of your choice.

Just my .02 cents
