you need to learn how to use the magnetic lasso tool. Its my favorite of the lassos, cause its makes smooths lines everywhere fi you know how to use it right. other than that, it looks like you are learning pretty quick.

see this is all magnetic lasso and it took me 2 min. You just gotta learn how to use it. If i would have use some normal lasso, i could have gotten the lines to look fluent but i wanted to show you what the magnetic can do. Oh i started with the gunmetal color

hey. i have no clue how to do that. um like how do you keep the shape and lighting of the vehicle the same and then change the color to make it look really real.

your getting the hang of it.

In case you didnt realize yet, but the magnetic lasso works by separating contrasting colors. If you find a black design on a white page, try it out. It will seamlessly cut it right out, but then again, if you justhave black and white, you can use the magic wand.

Looks like you are learning fast, good for you. Photoshop takes a bit to get used to and all of the features, but it is worth it. I am still learning things every night when I'm on it after work, lol.

Here are a couple pics I did just for fun. Did the dirtbike one with black frame, but only did the front rim black. And then I quickly did a couple colours on the dodge. It is originally white, and I just put on a navy blue and red..

You're getting the hang of it, each picture is looking better.

If you want, try adjusting the feather for the those "tricky" areas, or where you want the colours to flow a little better like around the fenders or the doors.

Not trying to make fun, just trying to teach some new things.

Dinner
12-18-2007, 01:46 AM
Like here I used 1px of Feather for almost everything. When I went to "delete" the door handles, Badges, fog lights..little things like that. I used 0 Feather, that is so that when I surround the part that I don't want to be coloured, I won't have any colour flowing into that part. Hopefully that makes some sense, lol.

Now the original colour of the truck is Red, I changed it over to a Light Blue Colour. Then I put on gloss black rims for the fun of it and tinted the driver and passenger front windows. And then on the final pic, I did the fender and rear driver side door a orange colour, leaving the rest of the truck. Now you can't tell unless you zoom in. But the fender was done with a 1px Feather, and the door was done with a 0px Feather. You might be able to see if you look closely, or if you zoom in you will be able to see how the orange on the fender will be a tiny bit more "flowing" around the edges. That is from the Feather, well feathering the edges.

Also from the original pic there is red on the chrome bumper and grill. When I did my blue version I made a new layer, went through the different colour layer options until I found one that was soft enough to still keep the look of the chrome, but to have the blue tinge to it. I also took the Opacity down with the blue on chrome.

There are obviously a lot more features than these. These are just simple things, once you get the hang of it things will keep getting better:cool:

wow. how do you get the reflectiveness of the curves of the truck. its like you get a transparent color to do that. is that like a tool or something.

Not really a tool no...it's quite simple once you get the hang of it...

I outline the sections that I want to do at a time, decide what colour I want to make the truck, frame, plane, whatever it is, make a new layer above the Background layer, then brush over that section with the colour I chose. Then just go to your "Layers" heading on the side, and beside the Opacity Scale there will be a click down box that will say Normal. Click that, and run down the list to see what effects work best. Sometimes I will go back and change the colour if it's not quite what I want, and do everything all over again.
