start up?

when i start my ltr after sitting for a few days and even if i let it warm up for a min if i rev it a little bit of blue smoke will come out the pipe it will only last for about 3/4 revs ( is this normal) and also my engine is kinda making a wierd sound i can ddesribe it its like a wooshing humming osund coming from the engine it never used to do it before. mods i have are hmf pipe cherry bomb and air box lid off. im also runing enigine ice in the radiator

Sounds like it may be time for a new piston and rings....along with the whoosh humming sound does it vibrate?

no vibration. and idk everyone that i know that has and old quad that needs pistons and gasskets ect... always puffs blue smoke when they ride mine is only for maybe 5 seconds when i first rev it up then its completly normal

Do you have quite a few hours on it? Does it start hard?

This happens a lot when the exhaust is cold and there is condensation on the packing. Mine does it too but as you said only for a quick moment.

ive got probly 75 80 hours on it. and by start hard do you mean like takes a while to get it to crank over. and if thats what you ment then no it starts great tap the started and its running even when cold

Hmmm you should be ok ....That sound your hearing could be something like your skidplate vibrating. You have some hours on it....It's possible that when you let it sit like that, that a very lil amount of oil may seep by the valve seals. It only does the smoking puff when it's cold and hasn't been started for a day or 2 right? If so I would say you're good. I have seen a lot of 450 bikes do that when they have quite a few hours on them. You could be due for an oil change too if you haven't done that in a while.

i changed the oil about a week ago and yea it only does it if it sits a day or 2 or more and its for a brief time 2 to 3 revs then its gone
