neil charged me right at 1300 i think for everything plus pappy powdercoated the cases and cover that was another 300 so aournd 1500-1600 id say just the engine roughly 8000 in the entire quad including the 3000 to buy it and im no where near done

I like your color scheme 250r rider 88. Looks good!

Those rims you have on there look flimsy though. They probably work for MX, but you'll taco them in XC.

Question regarding the front end on an XC bike...

Do you think a narrow front aftermarket frame with plus 3 arms running 4:1 rims will be too wide for the woods? I also thought about plus 2's as well. That would put me at stock width... with the narrow front.

Thoughts?

Suggestions on the rear end?

Well bud or dickhead whichever you prefer. I dont care what you do to it enough to go look at your other posts and threads. You said you were getting elka/smc front end and never said a width or anything. For the fenders I've seen many people of all classes not cut their fenders and some people run rear skidplates for mx if they want to, dont really matter if they run them or not. You bike looks more mx due to the wheels and thats all I said. Didnt really need you to get smart with me becuase you think I am goign to look at every post youve ever made on atvriders.com to see what kind of front end you are getting.

move on please becaseu i dont want this on here use pm if your gonna ***** back and fourth...
becasue 1) XC is different places i can run a full mx 250r if i wanted to and have no problems...
2) its the rider that choosses how hit quad is set up so if he wantes to run +2 and XC race and run thin rims... let him do it its his money and his choice. as he said in the post they held up for 4 races so i think they are fine

thank you and please just keep the talk down... pics are better...

Haha sorry woodsracer I was just stating that it looked more mx and insted of explaining to me he was running a mx quad in the woods he was all smart about it and said that I should of known when he said elka/smc i would automatically know the size so I just wanted to prove him wrong. Didnt mean to mess up your thread just hate it when people are dicks.

i know what you mean but use pm's then... i have a buddy that raced a fully mx 450r in a xc race by me and he won it in pro... he had +2 a-arms and axle the whole 9 yards... so its do able...

now back the what his is sopose to be about... lets see your sick xc quads!

ok this has gotte nout of hand but whatever, the reason it doesnt have all these parts alread yis because im still in college and paying for that and a race bike isnt easy unless your loaded or parents buy you everyhting (like alot of people on this site) heres a pic of what it looked like when i bought it as you can tell it looks more MX and ive been slowly converting it to XC over the past 3 years busting my *** for parts so i dont need any S**T here if you cant tell its a XC quad after looking between the 2 pics you have got some problems

I wouldn't go any wider than +1 for woods. A narrow frame is -1 already, so that means no wider than +2 arms on a narrow frame. FYI, 4+1 are required to keep the width the same. These rims are almost the exact same offset as stock, so they won't help to narrow your quad up.

I run a standard link rear, works for what I do, never had a chance to run a no-link or cr-500 link.

As far as the negative remarks.... I will delete them.

I agree... this post is going to be one heck of a thread.

I can't wait to get mine done...still looking for the right frame to match up with my CT/Laeger/PEP XC-R. No corners will be cut on this...thinking of putting my brand new OEM cases in this one with the CT310. :D

Give me about 4-5 months....:D

nice pic's!

One is a 2003 Lonestar, the other is a 2001 Lonestar. And the restored one is an '86.

As for width, I run stock width Lonestar arms with stock wheels. The axle is a Dominator XC axle which is -1 to +2, which I also run at stock width. Most of our local races are very tight, and I make most of the 450 riders look stupid in the really tight trees. It just carves it's way through with no problems. It's only 44 inches wide at the outside of the rear tires.

The one you see in the big pic also has complete 450R front and rear brake systems. The rear was very easy to do, but I don't know if I'd do another front set-up. The 450R spindles throw the camber way off, and there isn't enough movement in the ball joints to get the adjustment where I would like it without the ball joints binding.

the 265 i found is set up for mx mostly with +2+1 a-arms and stuff im just gonna get some stock ones from a buddy once i get it and buy some after market a-arms to run mx and XC on it... but i ride more XC than MX but on days after school and work and i wanna relax and chill out all i have to do is ride to my buddys house and ride on his mx track... and im good to roll any others post them...
danhung11 is that the 2nd R that you got that you are turning to a XC one or is it that one that you were gonna sell a while back.

Are you talking about this one?

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/danhung11/000_0143.jpg

Probably need to delete that since it is XC. I am thinking of going with an aftermarket frame on this R and coating the Walsh Swingarm and Lower A-arms Candy White. Then I plan to make a 88/89 style XC bike that will make you stare... The XC bike will be hopefully a Laeger/PEP/CT310R.

I have a 87 frame and other goodies that I will be selling. What kind of parts do you have for an R?

Is that LRD Attitude frame strong enough for frequent XC use? Ever since i first saw one of those aluminum frames i've always wanted one. I plan to get one eventually.

for mx i dont think they where that great. they built them for dune rs. but ballences lrd seemed to hold up.

TheNewn
12-17-2007, 10:27 PM
Is that what they were made for? MX? Anyone know the strength of them compared to other after market frames?

Also, they dont make them anymore, do they? Who's still producing new frames?

I saw in one of the magazines that they said the LRD was 10 percent stronger than stock and a steel after market frame was closer to 30 percent stronger. And yes the front tires are small. They were just on there at the time to roll it around.

Rich250RRacer

I've heard of alot of breaking issues on the LRD chassis, especially in the footpeg area. Anybody with one able to confirm or deny this? I know they're the best looking chassis out there.
