I am wondering if a mukuni 38mm tmx carb would be a good carb to run with an ESR330 3mm stroker? Is any body running this set up or something similar? I have heard alot about the air 38mm air stryker but not much about the 38mm tmx. If anybody is running a 38mm tmx please let me know your thoughts.

I used to have one and sold it to a guy we did a 330 bolt on for. It works fine on that motor.

No problem, this might be of help too.

410 main winter, 390 summer
20 pilot
5EJ12-57 pilot middle notch ( I believe this was the needle we had to switch to after using the CR ignition)

Otherwise on stock cylinder or 330's with stock ignition, I know we used a 5EJ12-55 needle on the middle notch.

Those carbs are very responsive, probably the best I've ever had. They also come apart easy and simple to change the jets. One screw, the drain plug and the bowl is off!

It's not a bad carb, certainly, and should perform very well.

However, from your other threads, it looks like you are into drag-racing and peak power. As a general rule, bigger carbs give you more top-end and peak power. If you are looking to beat a few hotshots at the local drag strip, you would see a little better performance from a 39mm PWK, or ESR also sells a 40.5mm PWK (which is a 39mm that has been bored out and altered for even more top-end power).

Make no mistake, the 38TMX is a good carb. But for drag racing with a big-bore stroker motor, the bigger carbs should give you better peak power.

If you already have the 38TMX and cannot return it, then I would give it a shot before you spend more money on another carb. But if you have ordered it new, and it's not too late to change your mind, you might want to consider going bigger. A 330 stroker is certainly capable of utilizing a bigger carb.
