out of all honesty ...
is it worth the time and money
getting 450r front shocks , having them revalved
and put them on a 400ex
or should i just go with aftermarket
ive been told that they are just as good as after markets and cheap
if that were true why would everyone get aftermarkets

Well depends on how much money you got. If you have 1200 for ZPS piggybacks then go for it. But rebuilt 450r shocks are really for "casual riders" hard trail riding and some jumps/whoops here and there. Some full time racers use the rebuilds and love them. Cheap and give you an edge on stockers. But like I said if you do a lot of racing and hard trail riding then Get some aftermarket rezzied shocks;)

CASUAL RIDER..NOT AT ALL

theres my problem i ride like im racing all the time..more fun
i plan on racing all of the IXCR series and MABEY a couple GNCC races
my quad isnt ready for GNCC yet
i wasnt sure if it was even worth my time
i saw a post on here of a kid who revalved and changed the springs i just wasnt sure if it was worth the time doing that or if i should just stay on my 400 shocks until i can afford after market

Well then rebuilds are definetly a great option. In GNCC at least you aren't hitting huge jumps. Mainly just a bumpier fast ride. So 450r rebuilds would work out excellent. A lot of GNCC guys ride rebuilds and love 'em.

I put a set on my ex and had them resprung and revalved (along with the rear) and it was an amazing difference. I raced XC this season on them and really liked them worth the $$$$.

I think it's like $400 from C&D Racing

For the fronts it's like 400, but you prolly will want to revalve your rear too. He has a kit that costs 700 which includes, new triple rate front springs, and dual rate rear, revalves all around and 3 high flow CNC pistons all around installed. Pretty good deal IMO.

are the links really worth it? cause I really hate to cut my skid plate just so I can use the linkage

I'm pretty sure you'll have to fab one up yourself. They only make those for the 450's I believe. The link lowers your ride to XC standards so you don't have to lower it via the shock letting you keep your shock up and at a nice ride setting. At least I'm pretty sure that is what it does.:p

Get aftermarket shocks. 450rs are better than stockers but they're not anything special until resprung and revalved. 200 dollars for the R shocks then another 700 to get all three shocks resprung and rebuilt.
You can find a set of used aftermarket on this site for around 400, then get them revavled and have the rear shock revalved and resprung at the same time. It will be around the same price but you will have a lot better front shocks.

You can jump with rebuilt 450r shocks. One of the guys that rode pappy's 400ex did a 70 foot uphill triple with them and i turned out fine, in the 400ex budget build article.
