It's not a law but a suggestion.

They have too, its just a gauge for parents, if they don't think that their son or daughter can handle it, well thats the kids problem... I didnt get my quad till I turned 16.... My sled either... I used to ride dirt bikes but I never had one, and I didnt ride anything over the 50cc very often.

Here's an interesting bit of information for y'all. If, lets say Honda for example catches one of its dealers selling an ATV to someone underage or if the parents are buying it for the youths use and the dealer knows it they get 3 chances.

First time they are caught they get a written warning. Second time, a fine ranging from $10,000 - $25,000. Third time they get caught selling to a underage person they lose their dealership lisence.

Now, I don't agree with the age laws, they need to be re-evaluated(sp?) for sure. But I thought I would let you all know what kind of importance these laws play with dealerships. When I worked at a Honda dealership a few years ago Honda would send someone in with a person under the age of 16 and try to buy a 400EX, telling the dealer it would be the kids atv. We didn't know when they were coming or how often.

The manufacters and dealers take the age laws very seriously. But they do need to be changed, there are thousands of younger riders with a lot of skill, and who are large enough to handle a bigger ATV. Stepping back down now, lol.

I raced a Blaster when I was twelve. But I think those laws mightve expirder in 1998, theres something on ******** about it, under the 2003 Recommendations. But I am not 100% sure. I know they changed the ages for racing classes at the GNC's.

exactly even though most states the law is 16. on polarises quads it says 18 and i know the law is not 18. no one cares though and if you do go to atv saftey and you couldnt get fined for that. but come on do they really expect ppl to ride a 90? i just got off my friends banshee and am perfectly fine on it. i also rode a 400ex when i was twelve and then i had no trouble with that. ive been ridng my 200sx since i was 9 and have never had any trouble handling that.

I use to have a little E-Ton 90 cc. My son is 15 years old, 6'1" Tall, 140 #. You should have seen him on the E-Ton, he looked like a Shriner minus the cone hat.
