hey im doing a little survey here to see who would at all be interested in a quad fmx ramp?

we have the space and material to mass produce any type of ramp you want. me and my friends built one lastnight for me and the thing turned out mint so i guess we know what we're doing. i can probably do it for under prices that the big companys like evolution and fmxramp do it for. just ask around and post if you would ever be interested in it.

we make dirtbike, quads, snowmobiles, and mini bikes ramps. i'll get pics of mine today while we're still working on it.

ok sorry bout that, that was me who posted above under my brothers name. forgot to change it at home here. :blah

few more things to add, i had two professionally certified welders make all the welds and we have jigs and large cutting equipment ready to go. we can get at least 3 ramps done a day.

that is if we decide to do this and the demand is high enough. hence the reason for this survey :p

I have been wanting one for along time!! But how would we get them

Nausty

I might be interested but I think we might do our own. What might the prices be?

Wired
11-10-2002, 11:02 AM
we'd probably ship them if ourselves but we arent sure on it yet.

all prices would vary. depends on if you want it on a trailor, regular build, folds, stuff like that.

My cousin and i have been thinking about building one for about 3 weeks but the thing is that we have a mig welder but we dont have a machine saw and we dont want to use a torch. So it would probably be smarter to just buy the ramp than spend money on the metal and a machine saw.

Do you use a machine saw to cut the metal??

What are the Height and Length of the ramp you built for yourself??

hey jon if you need any tips let me know. are you gonna help that kid pay for our ramp that we're selling him? hes trying to find people to go in on it with him so he doesn't have to wait till march to get it. i think he even wants to put it out at your land but i'm not sure.

we have an industrial size ban saw that make precision cuts that we use. we also have access to a plasma cutter which makes the best cuts out there on the market.
our welder is a certified welder and works at an aluminum welding fabricater so our welds will stick. we have alot of space and our jigs will allow us to produce a ramp in half the time it takes by measuring everything.

as far as prices right now, i guess i really cant tell you untill i get the material figured out and what i all need. if anyone has any preorders send me an email to jonboy68iou@hotmail.com. i should be able to figure out specs and prices of material. let me know what uses you will use it for too. we can make sled/quad, quad, and dirtbike ramps... (mini's too) let me know if anyones interested.

thanks

jon

well i guess he never asked me about it but im making ramps for my own fmx course so i doubt his will be on my land. i'll probably be making 3 or 4 different style ramps for myself. (super kicker, competition ramp, distance, and maybe some others if i get the urge.

Wired

for me we just built a simple 8'5ft tall, 6'4ft wide, and 24ft long. i'll try to get pictures tonight yet but my digi camara ran outta batteries. it has a smooooooth transition that should be excellent for pop!

How big is the gap that ur jumping over?

Wired
11-10-2002, 06:55 PM
its designed for 60 - 55 foot gap. so probably 55 feet we'll make the gap. our landing will be close to 15 feet high.

Black400
11-10-2002, 07:00 PM
Thats is about how big the gaps are at my dads house the but d@mn that ramp is long how much did the metal cost alone?

Wired
11-10-2002, 07:04 PM
not sure, my dad lended me all the metal and we're going to figure out what he wants for it tomorrow. im also going to the local metal shop and see how much it would cost for all the iron i used on my ramp to see how much each ramp would cost for me to make. then i'll base my prices off of that.

hey jon, I am very interested in a quad ramp about 6 feet tall, 5 and 1/2 feet wide, and 18 feet long. If you can, give me a price on a trailer ramp and a regular ramp. Id imagine the price is around 500 and up, thats what the other companys go for.

jello
11-11-2002, 09:43 PM
I want a ramp i can take with me places. So what are thoes trailer ramps going to run? and did you say somthing about a folding ramp? Pm me with details when you get them. How are they going to be shipped because that would be a huge bill.
If the price is right and we can get the shipping figured out I want to be the first on the list for one!

one more thing to add. if you notice towards the beggining of the ramp you'll see two crossmembers... thats where the fold is made for transport. we'll either make stationary or "trailer" (SP) units :D

Wired Fabllous Idea. Infact i may build one two. But just for me im not stealling your business.

There are a few things you should watch out for tho.

Getting sued!

Some kid that buys your ramp and gets killed for some stupid reason, You can bet his or her parents are gonna look for someone to blame! sorry if i threw a wrench into your plans but thats one of the reasons I may not start building A arms. Maybe you should keep your name and address hiden. Not to make it so you don't stand behind your product. But it would really suck If you were to get sued.

Wired
11-12-2002, 11:02 PM
forum good point. ive taken this all into consideration and im going to contact the people from the top ramp builders and see what precautions they take. im not going to make these things if theres a slight possibility of getting sued. im taking all the neccessary steps into making this a business, not a death wish ;)

Why don't you just build one out of dirt for free?

if you only have a shovel you'll be there all night...

.... and the rest of the week

plus you dont want to worry about losing the lip or anything, plus its portable so you can start nice and close then work your way back

Just make your business an S corp, an LLC or a corporation, then if you get sued it goes through your business and not your personal assets. Bad thing with a corporation is you have to pay taxes quarterly, where an LLC or S corp you pay at the end of the year. There is always a chance someone will go after your personal stuff as well. but this way you will be better protected. Go on the website for your state and you can look up what business entity would be best for you.. Hope this helps a bit..

lol, that would be great if my dad retired and we started our own ramp building business. hehe that would be great testing out ramps and working with quads and dirt bikes for a living. I doubt there is much of a business for building them though.

i would be able to make a steel kicker in my machone shop class but our teacher won't let us for the same reason, he doesn't want to be sued from parents after i kill myself when i try to clear a 100 foot gap (like that is going to happen), i will do crappy welding and it will crack as i am jumping it...

if you sell a ramp to a kid under the age of like 20 lets say i think you should have a parent of leagual gruading say that you will not be held reponsible for any injuries or death when a child is using the ramp..

just an idea..

good luck i would buy one if you didn't live that far away.

well...i think we would have to sign a contract saying it's not his responsibily. both of us would get the letter. in case i would sue if i got hurt, he has the letter with my signature on it saying it's not his responsibilty. then we would loose. i'm pretty cure that's how it works. a bunch of other legal crap too. the only thing that would get you would be the shipping. i can just imagine now.

thank you very much for looking into this! i hope it goes well.

i had a "career day" where i got to take off school and learn about some different careers and i asked what's the average injury from. they sais ATV's. they said they are dangerous and should be banned. i got really mad at her and told her i had one. i've never broken a bone on a quad but i have on a dirtbike. i say dirtbikes are more dangerous and quad supercross and dirtbike supercross should both be recognized. i've never seen a race except for the GNC and the GNCC's on OLN. other than that i've seen ton's of dirtbike races on ESPN and all that.
