Most likely im gonna do this, and if i do, ill still come in here every once and a while to help people out and etc.!

Ya I mean the mods seem pretty extensive but I'd take an EX over those anyday. IMO There is way more stuff you can do to an EX.

have you guys ever ridden a banshee!

My dad has one and they are insane!

Im only trading my 05 for a 98 because of the engine work, billet parts, and suspension.

The powerband on these things are insane!

I wish i could keep both though:(

IMO it is not worth it. New to Old and 4 stroke to 2 stroke. If all you want to do is drag race then a shee is the way to go. A 400ex is the best quad around for all kinds of riding, not just drag racing

12-10-2007, 04:08 PM
IMO banshees are only good for going fast in a straight line EX kills in in everything else its unheard of to disagree. If you ride dunes sure get a banshee. If you like drag racing get a banshee. If you like trails, track, and other various fun things the 400ex will take a very large dump on the banshee

12-10-2007, 04:09 PM
Oh i forgot to mention they are only good for spinning the tires too lol

Hondamaster5505
12-10-2007, 04:10 PM
where we ride (coalmines,train-tracks,trails) The banshee is just fine.

I ride my fathers alot. I actually think i ride that better than my 400ex. I can jump it better, slide/turn better, etc.

I might ask for a little money, im not sure.

ny300exrider
12-10-2007, 04:35 PM
get the banshee, the 98 sounds like a hot quad

Hondamaster5505
12-10-2007, 04:37 PM
how much do you think i should for ask with it?

I dont wanna rip the guy off either

good luck with the swap dude.

you are going from a honda, who has the best quads out there IMO, to a yamaha. i like yamaha too, but i would never trade a honda for one. thats definitly taking a few steps backwards. i ride with a banshee on a regular basis and it is no comparison to my 416 everywhere except on a dry flat straight stretch. eveywhere else i make him look silly. DON'T MAKE THE TRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hondamaster5505
12-10-2007, 05:34 PM
Yamaha's my #1 favorite brand, and Honda is #2.

It does have the elka shocks and everything...

...:(

well hes kinda ditchin on me because he has some offers that are closer to him, and he said that if they fall through, he'll trade with me. I dont blame him though, because i am 11hrs away from him...

Well, if his other deal goes through, hello high-compression piston and cam:D

Alright I'm just gonna state the truth, the 400EX along with the Z, KFX, DVX400 and the Raptor 700 are ALL a step up from a Banshee. Banshee's are '80s technology and they just can't stand up to todays machines. But hey, they CAN be modded to beat yes even a 450 on a track, it might take alot more effort and money but point in case, IT CAN BE DONE! Everybody has there own opinions about there quads and Hondamaster5505 might even realize after trading that it wasn't a smart choice but still, it's what he wants. So all in all.......we should take the time remember the facts. The Banshee will probably suit him better than an EX from what he describes anyway.

Hondamaster5505
12-10-2007, 06:07 PM
come on guys, you all act like the banshee sucks a**.

Ive ridden them before, and i know it wont handle like the 400ex, but tis the pure adrenaline rush from a 55+ hp bike.

Im prob. keeping mine adding 05 z400 front shocks and cam+piston.

Maybe even a banshee motor in the future:D

hahaha

i am not dissing the banshee any anymeans, they are a blast to ride. i just agree that they are out-dated now, the new quads have so much better technology

JOEX

Compared to the latest genseration of quads the 400ex is nearly out dated as the Banshee :ermm:

One of the biggest differences between the two is the power delivery. Some like the smooth power of the 4 stroke, others prefer the hard hit of a 2 stroke.

Different strokes for different folks:p

A banshee is a F***in great quad i have one it rips for a banshee with stock pipes. I blow my brother piped preditor off the line but he says he missed a shifts everyone says that I don't know. Just a Toomey T-5 and your gone. But on the other hand i am trying to trade my banshee for a 400ex. More the less to try something new. Wish I could have both but can't.

I would trade with you, but not a big fan of unpiped banshees.

Plus yours is a 92.

I would want some $$$ in that.

if you want a banshee why dont you save up $1500 and go get a decent one lol...alot of them are wayy over-priced around me..but every once in awhile you find a good deal on one. plus you could mod it however you wanted and you wouldnt be losing a new quad if something went wrong on it

Hondamaster5505
12-18-2007, 08:02 PM
well i have a new thing i wanna do.

Im gonna try to find a rolling 400ex/450/rap. 700 frame and put a banshee engine in it, while keeping the 400ex.

Kick-a** power and modern comfort/handling

one of the best set up ive evre seen was a 250r with a banshee motor in it but my idea was a banshee with a plus 1 1/4 swing arm and a 250r front a-arm geometry. i never got to do it because i trader mine off for a 400 in 98 .
