i ruined the threads on the studs of the rear hub, and the guy at the shop said you cant replace those. so do i need new hubs? and how are the hubs on the axle? are they welded? would i need a new axle then? would it be possible to fix the threads?

no the hubs are not attatched to the axle, there is a castle nut that you have to loosen and the hub will come off. And yes you can fix the threads with a tap and die set. Not sure if you have one but theyre pretty expensive for the good ones. Someone correct me if im wrong, but i thought you could replace the studs on the hub?

The studs on the hub are pressed on. You would have to press out the old studs and then get new ones from honda and press them back on. You might be able to do this with a vise, but it would work better if you had an arbor press. Or... visit ole jUnkBay (eBay) and look for a set of new hubs that are good and clean!

new rear hubs are about 29.00 a piece. and if you buy a newer ex like 07 hubs...you get them in a charcoal black color :) Check either servicehonda or planethondaracing put a dot com at the end of each of those ;)

planethondaracing says 112$ for 2 rear hubs. if my math is correct thats $56/hub.

oh yea, would black rims on the rear and chrome on the front look good? my EX is mostly red and black. thought id add it in here-would be kinda stupid to make a new thread on that.

Those are brand new LOL. Ebay has them for around 30 bucks a hub for nice slightly used ones.;)

Its no big deal to replace the studs as long as you're smart about it. I do it all the time. A press, an arbor press, a vice all work good, but my weapon on choice is a good ol bfh. You just have to be careful with it.

1 Buy a new stud. 2 Put it in the back side and take a washer and lugnut with the flat side facing the washer and pull it through. 3 Smack the guy at the shop and tell him he is stupid.
