Was planning on a Recon for son or myself and he'd get my 04 EX. I had considered the 07 EX but most places were out of the 07. A dealer who was open yesterday (Sunday) had a 07 left on the floor when we went to buy the Recon.

Decided to go with the EX and apply the $500 bonus bucks, so pretty good deal. Much better than my 04 deal.

I like the sport clutch, son was afraid of it, but once he understood completely that he didn't have to use it he is happier.

I thought the new reverse setup would be a pain, but it actually seems easier. The manual clutch makes shifts easier as well (less foot effort).

I didn't think the plastics would matter, but particularly the nose makes it feel shorter (more nimble) which I like. Haven't rode it much but the changes Honda made seem pretty good. I think the lights may be more prone to being damaged though (less protection).

I also noticed some differences in the frame design (where tubes are cut and welded), not sure why they did this.

I got heated grip kit, mitts, engine skid, and Q.R. flag mounts on order yesterday and Rocky Mountain has them shipped already. Nice.

If only I could get a sport clutch on my 04.

From today, first time out riding (except for in yard after 6" snow).

Going north tomorrow, hopefully will get some more snow riding.

Balmy 57 degrees today.

That is St. Joe state park (about 1 hr. south of St. Louis). Not a bad place, they continue to improve the park. They have a few small lakes, swimming areas, fishing, picnic areas, etc.

Added double bike/ATV wash area last year, they just marked the trails and grade them if they get too rutted.

That lake the water was clear but green (can't see the color in the pic). The land was an old lead mine, but closed and donated to the state.
