is that a 03yz450f dirtbike motor?
If ti is, you will have the baddest machine around!

It's an 04' YZ450 dirt bike motor. Pretty much the same as an 03' with better clutch cable routing. Yamaha didn't start to mellow out the YZ450's till 05'.

Thanks.....

That's some pretty sick looking paint.

Post some pics and details about those arms and swinger accents - chrome or just paint/powder?

wilbur116

The exhaust is a stock unit (04' YZ450) that I fabed to fit and powder coated the can. I used the stock Ti header and made the mid pipe section very smooth flowing by taking out out the sharper bends that the bike chassis required. I also cut the tip off because it was a bit to long.
I ran quit a few different exhausts on the bike this motor came from. I liked the stock unit the best. It had a smoother power curve and more top end over-rev than the others. It is also not as louds as the others. Probably one of the quietest race quads I've heard, and still sounds good.

The swingarm and the bottom A-arms are all powder coated, exept the yellow pinstripe is vinyl. The two tone colors are gun metal grey wrinkle finish and the other is silver metallic with clear coat powder. The top A-arms are real chrome.

The fenders are white fullbores. Full fenders, no race-cut. My friend in the graphics biz printed me custom graphics that I designed. Check out his web site www.igimage.com . I'll post pics of them in a couple days.

what kind of skidplate is that?

wilbur116
12-19-2007, 12:52 AM
Ahhh! Somebody finally noticed the skid plate. It is 100% hand crafted out of 1/4" plastic by me. I made the mounting brackets on the frame as well as the bumper. It covers the lower bumper, the grease fittings on the lower a-arms and even the lower chain roller. It is attached by 6mm countersunk stainless steel bolts. Thank you for noticing......

i was just thinking. dont take this in a negative way at all. it would look alot better with 1 piece maier race cut in the front or some fullbores. just my thoughts and opinion.

wilbur116
12-22-2007, 11:29 AM
The airbox rear half is a stock 400ex box. The front is custom fabbed and riveted on. The boot is for a suzuki ltr500. I made an adapter at the carb to fit to the boot.

I'm defitely not offended. I don't mind being different. I know race cut fenders are "standard issue" and thats fine. I've never really been one to conform.

Had some swingarm twisting issues so I boxed in the center section with x-bracing.

wilbur116
03-27-2008, 12:08 AM
And obviously had to re-powder coat it. Went with a little different design this time, it goes with the graphics better.

Race some CRA, some dist 11, and I guess dist 12 is running quads again now. Practice at Briarcliff, Sheck's, and a killer private track here in Mansfield.

Briarcliff?? That track is weak.

Hey there wilbur, you running any of the D11 Spring Series that run quads? I'm taking care of the series awards and product for the quad classes. AMS, COCR, Fast Traxx, and I are holding rounds of the series that do run quads. Check out mxtrophies.com, those are where the series awards are coming from. Working on giving away a couple lonestar axles, MSR NXT Jerseys and Gloves, Spy Goggles, a couple sets of Razrs, and of course lubes, spider grips, t-shirts, discount certs etc. They're running Quad A/B, and Quad C this year in lieu of the old 2 stroke & 4 stroke.

I just got a D5G LGP on rent from Cat for the next month or so. Track is actually not too bad on the moisture side, I though it would be worse. The dozer is sweeeet, very much like the one I used to originally build the track. So, the changes should be ridiculous. Just curious what would you change? Sorry for the hijack!
