How can people ask so much for a quad with little to no mods at all? I see nearly stock 400EXs going for 4500-5000 dollars. Do people not realize you can get brand new 400EXs for as little as 4200 OTD I can personally get one for 4500OTD but have heard of them as low as 4200 There ought to be a price guide line, not them bluebook value things either. Something like this
99' 400EX $3000
00' 400EX $3300
01' 400EX $3600
02' 400EX $3900
Or something like that, price should vary on condition.
And these same type of people dont wanna pay anything for modded quads that have large chunks of money put into them.
Like you can spend 25k on a quad and I bet you cant sell it to someone for 12k dollars. They want you to give them something for nothing. Same for aftermarket products Its pathetic when people expect you to sell something to them for less than half of what you paid for it.

Just had to vent a little.

There is always someone out there willing to spend more money than they are actually worth. That is just the way the "used" market works.;)

I know exactly what you mean, just a few months ago when I was shopping around for a 400ex, I was looking for a used one because I didn't think I could afford a new one, well while looking in the newspaper I saw people asking as much as $5400.00 for a used 400ex (not modded) and then I see an ad from a dealer offering a NEW 400ex for $4800.00 OTD...I think you can guess which one I picked :p

What gets me is you can stuff 20k into a bike to make it full out national level mx ready and only get less then half that if you sell it. Just the other day they had a full LRD/JP Racing R that was a 265 PV with 92' JP Outlaw frame (before LSR bought them and they where good frames) and full axis suspension. It sold for $6500:huh

I agree. I was at the barber and on his bulletin bored there was a add for a 2002 400ex for 4800. My quads apparently not even worth that much with the mods I have done to it.

and the sad part is i can now get 4g outta my quad if i'm lucky mayb 4300... o well i guess its called life though...

i know my friends are dieing to sale their 400exs for 250rs but paided 6g 5 months ago and can't get 3900 now...

I know I aint gonna get nearly as much money as I want for my quad becuase of the all the **** I've done to mine. The list goes on but in the long run for when it is ready to sell it's only worth a grand more for all the stuff you've done to it if that depends. Mine probably will be worth 12,000 when Im done with it this winter right now its worth prolly 8,000 and I aint gonna get that Im prolly gonna get 5500.00 or so.

I guess that's the way the used market works like lets say that you bought a new dale or 400z or even a 400ex if you rode that quad for 2 or 3 years and when back to the dealer they wouldn't even give you half of what you paid for it.
But the used market well that crazy there are quad that are 5 6 years old that were bought for lets say 7-8 k (canadian) but yet they still want to sell it for 6 k.
I know this post doesn't make much sence but hey that my way of putting it

i think alot of time the price is high because of finacing a guy who finances his 02 quad and tries to sell it 4 months later has to pay the bank more than it is worth.
