for us i didnt want to pay 15k for a jb90 so this is what i came up with for my 10 yearold , laeger norrow frame cr500 link , houser arms, axis tripple rates, rpm axle,cr85 motor, i built this because other than jb and cobra theres not a miniquad that compares to this and i built this for 7k , ebay, craigslist, rockymountain, ect, this quad weighs 255 , 25 to 30 pounds heavier than a true mini,drr,apex,trx90,kasea ect but has three times the suspension, power wise have you ever rode a cr85? put on a 105cc kit and they hall *****.

well for us it was all about the mighty dollar. my son raced a sparks built 440ex for years then the 450's came out. we had $17,000 tied up in the 400ex and i just couldnt see sinking that much in another quad and really couldnt afford to. we bought a whole yz426 dirt bike with a bad tranny for $300. yanked the motor out and sold the dirt bike roller for $500. then with the help of a few others we put the motor in the set up 400ex chassie.

That is awsome!

To answer the other question, I like hybrids because anyone can go by a 450 and do bolt ons. A hybrid is a true hot rod that takes planning and vision to know what you want to end up with.

the reason for them originally was for the smooth pwer. When the dirt bikes first starting coming out with the 4strokes everyone saw the potential forthe power to be good for the atv but at that time the atv manuf was not building them. So all the aftermarket frame manuf started building their chassis with the dirt bike engines in them for racing, then came along the manuf buildthem form the factory and now the market for a 15K to 20K bike has dropped to nothing.
