So I pulled the jets out of my bike to see if they were clogged and they definitely were. All kinds of nasty looking stuff inside each jet so I cleaned them out. To my surprise, the quad ran worse than what it did before I took the carb off, and now it's overloading like a son of a B****. I can see the fuel coming out of the back of the carb when I have the airbox off and I stab the throttle. The main jet I pulled had the numbers 185 on it. I'm not familiar with jetting a carburetor, but I know enough to rebuild the carb. Aren't the stock jets supposed to be like a 128 or something? Could this be the problem?

I have no airbox lid, stock exhaust, stock bike, etc. I'm trying to jet the bike for South Florida weather, and I'm wondering what size jets I should put in there. Anyone have any recommendations? :ermm:

Non Hrc main jets are 118 where hrc are 185 Im guessing yours is Hrc equiped.

If you are running no airbox lid, a 185 main is correct.

Did you check the pilot circuit? What size is the pilot jet? Did your A/F screw fall out? If not, how many turns out is it? Do you have the HRC Needle? What clip is it set on?

Also, what fuel are you using?

a/f is at 1 and 3/4 turn from a stop. Main jet is now 160, I got the dynojet kit and followed the directions down to a T. Jet needle is from Dynojet, and it's on the third clip from the top (as stated in the directions). She seems to run much better now, but there is still a bit of stutter to her.

Dyno jet sent me jets of that size and they are way to lean. try a 185 and 2 turns out. Thats how mine is runs great.

My mates 450 has pipe, K&N , HRC cam etc, he was running a 190 jet but just was not right, we messed about a bit and got it running much better with a 180 jet.

sometimes its better to drop a jet size or two.

Dyno jet compared to kehein jets are completely different sizes even if the number is the same. A 160 dyno will flow more fuel than a 160 kehein.

I think you are still too rich, but very hard to tell via the internet.

You're way too rich........just for now pull your baffle out and see how it runs with the 160. You're letting more air in but not out.

so with the hrc lid and baffle removed main jet should be about 160? what about the pilot jet... one size up from stock? and any adjustments to the leak jet?

open lid, slip on,hrc needle 3rd clip, 185 main ,52 pilot works great on mine. im not into those dyno-jet kits myself. my jetting kit was 2 jets and a needle for$20 total.:D the hrc needle helped a bunch on mine...well worth the 10 bucks i got it for
