150-190 degrees. Of course during the winter months, especially on really cold days, 140 tops.

I always try to shoot for about 170ish.

And for those curious about the effectiveness of oversize aftermarket radiators, I just recently put an afco on my 310. I used to run about 170-180(stock radiator), now I'm lucky to run 130-150(afco) using engine ice on both. I'm thinking about covering a third of the radiator with a piece of cardboard, the temps are a little to low in my opinion.

my trx is like that too, sometimes, I am lucky to hit 150, on open tracks during hot days, it might hit 160, no more. Tight, slow and lots of turns, it will get to 180 during the same conditions. My atc is different, it runs alittle hot, its near 180-190 on days that its hot. I have pwr radiators on that too!!! Those double pass radiators really do help and they hold almost twice the coolant too!!

I didn't think the PWR radiator was a double-pass.

No, my pwr's on the atc aren't double pass. But my one on the quad is, I don't remember what brand it is.

120-180 normal on mine.depending on if im in front with fresh air flowing it was at 120 running hard in the fall.in the slow moving stuff...as high as 210 until it opens up and cools down quickly.thats with a stock rad and engine ice. im thinking about a bigger rad for racing next year due to the pileups in the trouble sections!! :(

I have an ESR 330 cylinder with a +5mm crank, and a PWR radiator. I was having heat issues and talked to ESR about it. They said 200 was was an acceptable opperating temp. It will cool down to around 175 when opening it up on a straight shot and getting plenty of air through it. I have ran a couple of GNCC and Hare Scrambles with it getting up to 250 ( not for an extened time) without noticing any problems with my motor. I started 2 years ago with 205 pounds of compression now i am down to 160. From what I have read you guys max out less then I normally operate at, and I have had mine up to 250. I would say 2 years of racing and playing on a single piston without touching my top end with my motor usually around 200 degrees is acceptable.

i went on a halloween ride this fall .it was guided and so slow:mad: that my machine went up to 260 on the guage! i was losing my mind....i was able to get air into it and it cooled down after a little. it still has good comression afterwards but 260 is pretty high.:macho

Have any of you guys used the temp stickers that you put on the cylinder? How do they work?

you guys are more gutsy then me... i wouldnt let my bike get that high and keep running...

i think the highest i ever saw my 250r was maybe 210 or 215, and that got me worried... i was climbing a long and steep hill, with tons of big rocks and bumps and stuff... was stuck in 2nd gear and couldnt wind it out, with a lot of clutch...

200 is hot, but it's not quite in the danger zone. If I ever saw 200 on my quad, I'd be concerned enough to keep an eye on it, but not concerned enough to stop riding.

However, I've never known an engine to improve power beyond 150 degrees, and almost always starts dropping by 180.

In october my friends and I went to idaho and rode the dunes and my temp on my 265pv was 190. My 330 pv was always running hotter at about 210 to 220. We had a great trip and planning to go back to the U.S to try out more dunes.

I have an 1985 honda atc 250r and a 1986 honda trx 250r, my atc has an esr pipe no airbox lid and has been dyno tuned by Kenz cycle tech and water temp at Glamis is when im riding at the dunes is 210 degrees and compression is 190lbs and bike is stock minus the one oversize piston.
On the other hand my trx 250r has an fmf pipe, no lid and has a mild port job and compression is 170lbs and that bike also dyno tuned be Kenz has a water temp of 195 to 200 degrees while at Glamis.

I believe Afco is the only one that makes a dual pass.
