I'm looking for some new springs and retainers for my 400 but not a whole lot is coming up for aftermarket on the net. I found these ones: http://www.jokersracing.com/content-product_info/product_id-4938/honda_trx_400ex_heavy_duty_valve_springs_trinity_r acing.html
but i'm not sure if there any good or maybe I should just get OEM replacements.

If you have a stock piston and cam, or mild piston and cam, oem is fine. If you still want hd springs, those trinity springs should be fine. I personally like kibblewhite.

They are a little cheaper on ebay.

if your using a hotcam you would be fine using oem valve springs, hd are not needed in your case,
i just say this cuse 99% of the time you will find stockers alot cheaper than hd springs
