I am really new to ATVs still.
We have had ours for exactly 1 year now. My kids have the 2007 TRX90EXs and my wife and I got the TRX250EXs.
Can you tell me what exactly is a 125 build?
My son is clammoring for more giddyup. My daughter is still good with the bike as is.
What all is involved? Does it cost more than the bike did?

If you like you can see pictures of my TRX125 built in Feb 2007
by going to www.hetrickracing.com and looking under builds for 2007. It is an awesome race bike. We race motocross with it and it all depends on how much power you are looking for as well as what kind of suspension work you have done as to how much it costs to build a TRX90.

We’re going to max the cc’s out to a 125cc witch is the limit for his class for racing. It will cost anywhere between 3g’s to 4.5g’s to do and you can’t to it yourself or at least I can’t. If you’re racing or not for more performance you need to call

Charlie McVay (McVay racing)
Robb Leonard (Robbs racing engines)
Scott Cain (SCR)
Rich Hetrick (Hetrick Racing)

And see what they can do for yea I’m sure you can get some performance for a lot less.

I’m new to this Honda stuff sorry if I forgot any Honda builders.

Just a ? I'm planning on getting my kid a new bike what made you choose the TRX over the Cobra???

COLTBNME
11-30-2007, 02:10 PM
Nothing against the Cobra, it it fast, just not reliable. Granted the are less expensive then strokin out a TRX90 to a 125, but the Honda is going to finish more races. Bottom line is thats what counts. I would not trade my Honda or engine builder (Hetrick Racing) for 2 Cobras.

I want him to run a 4 stroke for a couple of years before he goes to the 300ex class. And Jeff Cernic wanted to sponsor him and he's a Honda dealer. Done deal

Think you can post some pics of that trx 90 you have w/a 125 built motor ?

Hey Rawdawg, If this is the Drew and Wiley I know, Your not gonna build a TRX90 with enough power to satisfy Drew's need for speed. I hate to see a kids age hold him up from racing the kids he needs to; to challege him.

RAWDAWG635
12-19-2007, 04:44 PM
FASTDAD-77, WHO are you, yea I'm Drew and Wiley's Dad. Drew will be racing a trx90 and that 90mod he rode last season. I know the trx is kinda going backward from what he is racing now but he needs somebody to race against, nobody is ever hardly in the 90 mod. class. 1 more year and I can put him in the youth mod. or the 0-200 2-stroke/ 300 4-stroke class. By then I hope the 250f engine quads are out. I think the suzuki wil be out this year, but I'm not a big zuki fan, hope to get a Honda if they get it out on time if not I guess it will be the zuki. I'm the other Drew's dad, R.D. Hope I didn't tick you off too bad but its the only way I could tell who it was. Sorry about that. I'm glad to hear Drew will be be racing in the 90's this year. My boy will be glad to hear that, but I still think you should look into a different birth certificate and a hot running 300EX for Drew because I still don't think anybody is gonna build a 90 to keep him happy.

RAWDAWG635
12-19-2007, 05:28 PM
Hey man, Where ya'll been, didn't see you but twice this year. I thought about that birth cert. thing but I couldn't get away with it a Ger, Brian knows how old he is. It would work at Pyramid though. That new track they built in Crosslanes is cool, is kinda small but nice. Randall

RAWDAWG635 not sure where you race but I can tell you first hand that every weekend at the nationals and the wpsa events last season REAL trx 125's and cobras has some of the closest races with both winning their share and finishing very close to each other. So I'm not sure what your statement is based on because I would be refering to the best built bikes and some of the most talented riders in the country!!!!!! If you want a 125 that will compete with a cobra with equal riders this one is available for $7000.00

The frame's going to be super mirror white with silver sparkles in a clear top coat. The swing arm and lower a-arms are flat black just like the Rath nurfs and front bumper. And I'm going to get the upper a-arms chromed. We’ve had red and yellow frames before Kyle’s what’s to tone it down a bit this year …….. Yeah…….. How about those ape hangers !!!! This Honda’s a whole new deal for all of as but with the knowledge of the likes of Dave Carter (super Dave) and Brad Loomis wow the possibilities are endless !!!! The spring for the rear shock came in Friday he can set on it with out it going down… and we’ll double check the height of the stem and get it sent out today and as soon as the brakes come in we'll see about the rear caliper/silencer clearance. The Orange County Choppers crew is supposed to be here today to start filming the DC bike show. It should be right up there with the NY police bike and the fire bike’s http://www.orangecountychoppers.com/occ/onairtheme.html ….. Lol. Here are some more mock up pics. If you see anything you like give Kevin Smitley a call he has a direct line to DC and he can get you hocked up no matter the brand of machine your trying to build.

Thanks Dave…… you know it’s just like good spaghetti sauce you have to start with the best ingredients……… this bike can’t help but look good so far it’s got the best… DC, Rath, and Fox. Yeah I’m curious to weigh it and see how much we’ve lightened it. Those Rath nurfs and bumper definitely complement your stuff Dave there a lot more money but they are very well build. It won’t be long now we’ll be getting things powdercoated and I can’t wait to get the upper a-arms chromed….. ask Kyle what his favorite color is … and he’ll say chrome…lol. And he’s blood type’s 10w30……. He watches way to much Speed Channel. He’s a cool little gear head….I’d want it no other way.

Hey Mike it's good to see the quad is coming together...finally:D It looks like Kyle is doing most of it though. It's good to see the kids get their hands dirty. I think they have a little more respect for the machine plus they gain knowledge too. It's looking good so far. How is the motor coming along?

Thanks.......... that's my little gear head!! On the E-Ton every Saturday I'd do the carburetor and he'd do the clutches. I'll never forget the first time he did the clutches him self I was passed out on the couch.... it was a great Saturday afternoon for a nappy.... lol and he went a head and did them.......... that Sunday he went out and smoked them ....... that had to be the greatest feeling in world for him.

Notice the Dave Carter duels and anti-vibe stem

Well today Kyle was off school me and Missy had a half day and with the 40+ degree temps and before the snow tonight Kyle took the opportunity to ride the 80.…. he loves that little tank. All it has is a pipe and some Jack Moore clutch mods. I would love to send the whole motor to Jack and let him do his thing....... maybe one day. And he finely got the hang of riding a wheelie and wanted me to take some pictures …. I wish I had a good camera.

Hey Mike, wheels look like they come out great. You missed out on the bowling today though, Rich kicked my a**, I think he was sand bagging the first 10 frames and set me up. You should of came and bowled a few frames with us. Rich is coming up tommorrow morning and we are going to get the intake gasket changed on my motorhome so I have it ready for Doublin Gap. I got Brandon's quad dialed in finally, runs great. 170 main, 52 pilot and the clip one below the middle and the plug looks perfect so that's a big head ache out of the way. Let me know when you need me on Kyle's quad and I will get down to Mo-town to give you a hand.

I found out what red braided brake lines are worth…….. as I was watching the dude at the local hyd. Shop making up the hose I wanted in red I said wow is the sucker pretty………… little did I know that when I went to the office to pay for it I was not going to be able to talk when the little hottie behind the window told me 46 frickin dollars…… but it sure is pretty ..lol listen to me worrying about 46 bucks on a 13 spin quad…lol. Kyle had to put the plastics on and check it out. Tonight the front brakes and go over bolts and stuff…… it will not be long now..

That is the nicest 90 I have ever seen you did a great job on it. I have a question though someone told me you had elkas for it and you were going to put the elkas on it and sell the fox because you didn't trust the fox or something? IDK might of just been a bs story or something but just wandering.

Thanks a lot Kyle and I have a lot of pride in it. (and money lol) it's at McVay Racing getting the brake petal fabed for the kick starter and some last minuet motor work..... can't wait to get it back and put the graphics on and finish it up for Sunday.

The deal with the shocks is it's been Fox Shox the whole way..... what happened was the Fox rear podium was supposed to be 13"..... Dave Carter mocked up the swing arm with a 13" Elka and when the Fox's came in they were 12.5" and I didn't like the way the swing arm looked in mock up. I called Fox and they said after it was all said and done they came out 12.5 and the lower rear height would help...... well we set it on the ground and it looks fine...... Dave Carter's going to check it out at the National Sunday and if he doesn't like it he's going to build me another one. But I think it's going to be fine. At first I was going to sell the rear and look for a Elka 13" rear...... but it's all good now. no bs dude that's the real story.

Hey Mike it's looking good. I'll have to show Ray. Is Kyle ever gonna get to race it? LOL!

Tell Kyle we said "Good Luck" at High Point. We'll be at Roaring Knob on Monday. We're skipping High Point because of the Poker Run.

Speaking of! I have to get back to work.

Good Luck this weekend!

Happy Memorial Day!

The motor is a Charlie McVay 125cc 4 strock.

The shaft of the stem is Carbon Fiber the bottom is steel and the top is cnc'd billet. Not sure what it weights but it's light as h*ll........ not sure about the speed...... he had a birthday party at a areacross track that's inside a 1/2 mile car dirt track...... the kids were running the car track...... I wish someone had a stop watch.....lol

how dose the quad run against the two strokes. do you have enough power to run up front.

etondaddy

They sure do......... once the rider get's the hang of the shifting and the different power band. And it's great for a kid about to go into the 300 class.

Hey man,
I just got my daughter an 08. She is seven so I am starting to build it for her for next year. I have a couple questions that I am sure the answers are in this thread I just cant find them. What length shock do you run with the DC a arms. Also, I love the swing arm. Very impressed. I believe you said it takes a 13" shock? And, a DRR axle? What brand carrier will work to pull that off? Brakes? Really, any and all rear end info will be helpfull. It looks light, sleek, and solid. Thanks. DC owes you for the props.

The swing arm comes with a billet carrier from Dave.....all you need is a axle from RPM (for a DRR) and stock DRR wheel hubs, sprocket hub, brake rotor and hub and axle nuts. Call Rebal gear and they'll made you a sprocket to fit the DRR hub. And for the front end all you need is all 400 stuff from the dude on e-bay that has the clean stuff. Call Gary (Bulldog) Fallon for your DRR stuff. As far as the shocks go the fronts are 14" and the rear is 12.5 it's the only mini set that Fox makes. When your ready to start we need to talk..... I can help you.

Well, technically I am about to start. But, I am going to be doing it in small increments at a time due to finances. All the first moves will be suspension related. Next year at 8 yrs old, pipe will likely be the only motor mod. It will definetely still be a 90. The 125 will have to wait until she maxes the 90 out and my money is not maxed out. HeHe. Anyway, if you can help fill free to email me at achristianhome@gmail.com or reply here. I will take all the help I can get. Also, I (28 yrs old) just finally made the move from my 400 to a 450R. So I have all the 400 parts I need. My younger (14) brother use to race a hetrick predator 90 and I pretty much built that from frame up. Now he is on a 300ex. But my knowledge of the Honda 90 is limited. Some of the swingarms out there take 400ex carrier and axle. Since I have all these parts it would likely save me a lot of $'s. I do like the look of DC's though. I guess I need to get with him for some $ figures. I wish I wasn't on a budget, I would jump on his work. That carbon fiber stem is sweet. Again feel free to shoot me an email or reply. I have a lot to learn. Right now I am leaning towards kids on quads. They are who we used for my brothers 300 suspension.
