Alright well went to go put the new piston in my bike ordered it off motosport its a wiesco and it was standard size 54 mm but when you put everything together the piston hits the cylinder head and i compared the size to my old piston and my old one was slightly smaller and i dont no where i can get it. Im pretty sure it was an athena piston anyone know where i can find them?

Has your head been milled any?

Ok, the best I can do is this.

When they mill a head, they put it on a machine and take metal away from it where it rests on the cyliner, though in minute amounts.

This ultimately raises the compression, but also puts the head closer to the piston, which sounds like your problem.

Hope that cleared it up:)

yea i understand but i realized on my old piston where you put the wrist pin in is 2mm lower than the wiesco so that creates the wiesco to hit the cylinder head and i need to figure out what my old piston was.

Can you send it back and just order an OEM piston from KTM?

3 different ones for your year model?

Call the guys at motosport and tell them your problem, I bet they've had someone call in on it before and know which one to send you.

call motosport and tell them about it. i ordered a piston kit from there for my banshee...when it came. they sent me the next size up then what i needed. so i returned the one that i got, and they sent me the standard size overnighted to me for free for making the mistake. then they only sent me 1 set of piston rings. so i call them again and they overnight the rings. IMO motosport sucks. the customer service is EXCELLENT! but the business just plain sucks lol

Does the old piston have any type of markings or numbers on it? Anything that would indicate a brand and part number? This is a sure-fire way to get the correct part.
