I am buying my 11 year old a ltz400. He will use it for tt racing. Any how what year did suzuki start with the adjustable shocks on the ltz400?

Wow i really hope you dont mean ELEVEN years old. heh.

The z400's came with the upgraded shocks in 2005.

So any 05 and up should have them.

Yeah I know, I have been going back and forth on going to the 400 for him for a while. ALL of the kids in his class are on 400's 11 year old and up. He rides my 450 all the time but says that it feels akwards for him in the steering. The 400 and ltz250 (his current bike) is exactly the same in the ergonomics. They only weigh 6 lbs different and the 400 is wider (a good thing). Any how I guess I will have to adjust to seeing him on it as well.

Do the shocks make a real big difference?

We are going tomorrow to look at a 2005 ltz400 that has a few aftermarket items on it. I will not know everything until tomorrow. I know it has an exhaust (unsure of which one) jet kit, wheels, nerfs and bumper. This is going to be a big jump for him (and me) it will be hard for me to watch him on the track (not that it is ever easy). One day he will be racing in my class :eek2:

Whoa i totally misread your original post i thought you meant an 11 year old z400 as in the quad was 11 years old. thought it was a typo.

I was on about those sized quads when i was that age.

I'd say the upgraded shocks makes a pretty big difference being fully adjustable would help quite a bit. And you can actually have those shocks rebuilt and make them even better, nearly as good as after market big names.

In my opinion, its worth going an 05 if its not a huge amount extra.

Plus the frames are better in 05.
