6th gear?????

ok i have a 300ex wiht revers i heard that u can take the reverse out and add a 6th gear is this true or just a rumor????? if its true does anyone have it done.do they like it? how much did it coast and was it hard to assemble.....sry for so many question i just wany more speed and dont care about reverse..........

sure its possible, i mean anything is possible, but i think (THINK) that they are pullin' yer' chain. i dont really know though KP

go to tcs site they have or had a 250x motor with a dual carbed an 6th gear motor on their mainpage .

the absence of a 6th gear is the thing I hate about my 400 the most. I am used to the 250r and 6th gear is a must in the open.

It seems to me like all new bikes coming out have only five gears. Is there any reasoning behind this?

6th would be nice cause you can make 4th and 5th shorter, making it faster up top. but unless your in the open you rarely use 5th. also newer bike have more power so you can gear it taller to get that speed anhow

All of the new quads are 4 strokes which don't need 6th gears because of there wide powerband.

so they do make 6th gears....im sayin revers takes up room take revers out put the 6th gear in and pull up the lever like revers but ites really is a 6th gear so u would have over drive kinda ,,that know one knows about!!!!!sweet!!!!

He's saying pull out reverse, put a 6th gear in it's place. Then rig it up to the knob, just like putting it in reverse and make it like an overdrive. I think.:confused:

its not worth it!!!

so your saying, when your riding in the open in 5th, to get to 6th your gona have to:

1)let off thorottle
2)take right hand and search around for the lever
3)push in clutch
4)red button
5)pull reverse lever up
6)let out clutch
7)apply thorottle
8)dont crash

all that to get into 6th gear :huh

thats a little much to get into a 6th gear :blah

as opposed to:

1)let off gas
2)clutch
3)shift
4)let out clutch
5)gas

hmm well they prolly did it cause traivs spaders 250x had the 6th gear an i doubt they used the reverse stuff for the 6th gear.. an i doubt Tom carlson would do a half *** job like that

is it possible to put wider gears in a 400ex for when you mod it? You guys know the yamaha 450f only has 3 or 4 gears to save weight?

all that stuff about reverse, i have the reverse mod and all i do is pull in the clutch and hit the reverse lever with my foot and push i t down to disengage it. i never use my hands anymore. just and idea.
