My friend rolled his quad pretty badly and really messed up his headlight and stuff, so he had me take it off. I told him you can go without the dummy lights but where would he want the ignition key? I have the 87 250x plastic but that doesnt mount on his since there is no headlight. I told him I could either zip tie his key to the bars there or I could make a hole in that plastic piece that is coving part of the hood and part of the fuel tank ( im sure you know what I am talking about ) I have seen it done before, I just want to make sure I do it right, whats the best way? Take one of those big screw bits and drill a hole about the size of the one on the stock plastic peice and have the notch? Is it that simple? heh. Anyway some advice please

i did that too, it is really easy and all you need is a half inch hole saw

Yea I have seen yours 300exnj, thats where I got the idea from. I just wasnt sure what kind of drill to use, and like how big, and like you said, put some sealant on it to. Thanks

Here is a pic of where I relocated mine. If you are interested PM me and I will give you the details on mounting your key switch.

How is relocating the key switch to the side panel ruining the plastic. The key is accessible, out of the way (unlike the original location), and maintains a clean look of the bike.

How is it ruining plastic?
I think it looks good there. it looks like it came stock that way.
I had it done like that on my 300ex.
