Hey, any of you guys want to get together this year for the month of Feb. I live on a pond in the south east part of NH and plow a flat track out on the ice. Last year was my first year doing this and we had some good times Rec/Racing on a little d shaped oval (like Richmond for you nascar fans) built for handling not speed to keep the broken bones and parts to a minimum. Not mandatory but studded tires are nice. I know its a little early but sometimes the ice is ready in January; however, I can not plow the ice until February with my truck.

It wouldnt happen to be that pond right next to route 10, would it? Stone Pond, maybe? I can't remember the name but i drive by it all the time on the way to Newport during the winter and i've seen people out there racing.

The Pond is in Milton, NH, just off rt 125. Alot to do on this pond with the car ice races on the Maine side and snowmobile trails leading everywhere. Also, usually the first week in Feb there are two strips plowed for snowmobile drag races. This get the attention of alot of people. My track will be on the left cove leaving the town beach.

eddie pettengil
12-30-2007, 08:53 PM
wow, great r bud. Mine don't look anything near even close to that. Sure would be fun wooping you with my 21 year old stock powered, spray painted framed, cracked fenderd, duck taped seat, blown shock, 3 wheeled racer (just kidding, lol). I just got mine out last year after its been sitting under a deck with a tarp covering it since 94. everything was rusted solid on it, we had to carry it to the garage. even had a mouse nest in the air box (lol). but with a little wd40 and new gas it started right up and got to use it all last winter on the ice. Made alot of progress on it in the last year. cant wait to get out there this weekend on the 6th. Going to try to get it plowed and flooded for sunday. here is a pic of the track we are going to copy this year, just a little longer with wider corners. I try to keep them on the smaller side so a 200x set up right can keep up with the bigger horse powered machine's.http://www.quadpit.com/zoom/hara-02.html

Yhea she looks good, but the question is do I know how to ride it? you see it all the time nice machine but the owner is afraid to scratch it. If you look at some of my photos in the 250r section I'm not scared to let it hangout

Really had a good time on Sunday, everything went pretty well considering I had a bare 250r atc frame 5 days before. Had a little coolent leak that kept me from turning alot of laps and also a tire that went flat every 20 minutes. The 16 year old top end did its job with 3rd gear high revs and only a 150 main jet. Ya, I was a little concerned with that.

We ended up with a total of 8 wheelers, (4) KFX 700, (2) Z400, (1) 400EX and (1) ATC 250R . We really killed the track and sprung a leak low in the middle of turn 1 and 2 by lunch time. After some burgers and dogs on the grill we went back at it and finished the day by getting really wet.

I would have to say Badasskfk really had a good hook and was class of the field. Looking forward to getting together again as soon as we can.

How are the rest of you guys making out on the ice. Milton looks like about 12 inches of ice with about 10 inches of snow. Went out this morning and plowed a parking lot on the ice for future riding but did not have the balls to continue plowing on to the track area. We plan on getting together on Sunday so I will give it a shot again Saturday morning if thats a no go we will try again Sunday.

We are good to go. Track is a basic oval that is almost 1/8 of a mile. It's bigger and wider than last week and also faster. You will need to brake going in or back off early untill we get a good grove going. Backstetch is a little rough. Hope to see you guys there. Come find us near the town beach.

going at it again sunday the 27th, got six guys so far ready to go, plus the car races might start so that could bring some more.

Another great weekend guys, thanks for showing up. Ended up with 9 quads ,1 atc and 3 bikes. For you trike guys the atc was really hooked up after taking about 6 lb of air out the front tire. I have some adjustment in mind so I should be looking real good this weekend.

We added a road course to the infield of the oval and it really added to the day. Going to keep it maintained the rest of the winter season. I flooded the track big time Monday night and Tuesday morning some spots getting more that 6 inches of water. After the rains come in tonight we might end up with a perfect level flat track with a mirror finish all the way around.

If any of you guys are planning on making it up this way, the 2nd and 3rd of Feb might not be a good turn out. Superbowl weekend plus a local ice racing event that some of our riders are planning on trying out will take alot of riders away. But of coarse I will be around and turning laps as always.

The 15th and 16th would be a great time to come if your trying to plan for it. They have the winter festival on those dates and it brings in many people to see the sled drags. Would be cool to have a full force of atv's out there to let everyone know we are here also.

ed ,do you live on the road infront of the tavern i went by sunday and saw a bunch of trucks parked down there

eddie pettengil
01-30-2008, 12:57 PM
Yes, I live on the paved road across from the tavern (last house on right). You can park there and follow the trail in my back yard to the lake or take the dirt road next to my road and park on the lake itself.

It's looking like no riding this weekend in Milton. Rain tonight and almost 40 deg on Sun. I hope people stay off the track so they will not destroy it.

02-28-2008, 08:57 PM
going to be a great weekend here, track is plowed nice and wide and ready for more snow friday night. track will be cleaned sat the 1st and ready for a big day of riding on sun the 2nd. should be a great turn out, getting bigger every week. we have a possible 16 quads / trikes and 3-5 dirt bikes. last chance of the year as things are starting to warm up. lets go guys, you will have a blast.

hang1p
02-29-2008, 08:43 AM
i thought the season would be over with a the messed up weather, got my bike together in a rush for a race in waterboro a then the truck went thru the track during plowing. do you have a oval or road coarse?

eddie pettengil
02-29-2008, 04:48 PM
we have a very smooth 1/8 of a mile oval. Good straights with just a stab of the brake to get into the turns. the track is very wide at all points, probably 40 ft. parking lot on the ice for around 16 trucks. very nice setup, you will be very impressed. some guys have come from 4 hours away more than once. ME or NH registration works since it is a border lake.

Atv's that are a definate = atc 250r,kfx 700,yfz 450,lt 250r, banshee, z400,

Atv's most likely = trx 450r, 400ex, 450r, raptor, 2 other 400's.

there are 3 bikes that show up every week and 4 other guys that came out last week (without quads) and said they will be here this weekend to ride.

We start pretty early around 9:00 am. Come on out and bring some friends.

eddie pettengil
03-01-2008, 03:28 PM
