Well, the front speakers in my car were blown when I got it, so it's time to invest in some new equipment. I know what I want, which is to connect my iPod to the headunit, and control it from the headunit while leaving the ipod in the glove box.

I found a nice JVC headunit that does all this, but how do the specs of it sound to you guys?? I'm a complete noob when it comes to understanding RMS and the other audio terms. I'm planning on adding 1 or 2 10" subs later on as well, so I want to make sure this headunit can work with that as well.

Here's the Specs:

Also, here's the link to the headunit in the store: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=300&i=105KDPDR30&c=3&tp=5684

I'm almost positive the speakers in the doors are 6.5", so are these good speakers to match up with the headunit??

How are these, I heard blaupunkt are pretty good, but correct me if I'm wrong.

And the specs on those speakers:

component speaker system includes two 5-1/4" woofers and 2 tweeters with built-in crossovers
titanium-injected polypropylene woofer with foam surround
1" Mylar semi-dome tweeter
built-in high-pass crossover
designer grilles and chromium-plated tweeter rings
tweeter mounting hardware for flush-, surface-, and angle-mounts
power range: 2-45 watts RMS (180 watts peak power)
frequency response: 60-22,000 Hz
sensitivity: 91 dB
top-mount depth: 1-15/16"
warranty: 1 year

So in short, would that be a good beginner stereo? I'm not looking for a bunch of bass, just a nice crisp sound and then I'll add more bass later on.

Not sure on all the specs but watch out for the head unit. I bought a panosonic head unit that was I pod ready just to find out that you have to buy a special cable that is 150$ worse yet the future shop were i bought the head unit can't even get the cable. I have it hooked up through the aux jack so i have to control the i pod at the i pod.

IMO, id keep looking..

get something with a preamp sub output and hopefully USB capability as well..

also, the RMS bandwith doesnt go as low as others in the same price range..
