spring for clutch

Ok so i took off my right crankcase cover and i took out that rod that the clutch cable attaches to, and i dont know which part of the spring goes on the end of that rod. Does the longer part of the spring hook to the rod or the crankcase?

I think the longer part goes in the crankcase. I will be taking mine off tomorrow. I will look and let you know.
