View Full Version : Rico Jr. needs surgery

11-08-2002, 08:46 AM
Well rico Jr. is gonna be needing surgery for a dang pork rib bone that splintered and got stuck in his colon. I did not give him the bone I know better,, he picked it up at the lake this past weekend I guess while he was out running around in the woods. Of course it probably won't be cheap but he is my little buddy and I'll fork out the cash ta make him better. Might take all the 416 winter updates cash but ole well,,the pups more important to me than the quad...so everybody keep him in your prayers and hope that all things go well with him over the next few days. He's been staying at the animal hospital for the last 2 days so i haven't even been able to see him but they said he's still acting fine except for the fact that he can't poop and his colon is probably torn along with having a bone protruding thru it..:( :(

anythin for the dog. i feel the same way about every dog ive owned, well i actually didnt own any of them. everyone says they own them, but i guess they can decide who takes care of them, especially if you leave the gate open one time.;) anyway, ive never really thought about it, but i wouldnt want a bone in my butt either.

Poor little guy. They will fix him right up for you man, he'll be okay.

I watched Emergency Vets, a Rot had eaten like seven golf balls and they were all stuck too. But they fixed him up.

Hope he does ok and gets well quick.

I know how it is, our cat got food poisening, almost died and spent 3 days at the vet. It was a pretty penny, but definately worth it.

Man, Only if a dog could talk and tell ya what they are thinking. My dog would be like "What the he!! is in my bum?"

I feel the same way about my pup(125pounds isn't really a pup tho.)

I love my dog and wouldn't trade him for anything.

Get better soon Rico Jr.

Hope he's okay! Labs are tough as nails! Our old lab took a wicked beating! Hit by a car... porky pine quils (6 times), and a TON of other stuff! Old age got her.... I miss all my old pets. :(

He has grown a lot!

Hope he gets through it alright.I love my dogs to.

Hey Chris waters that is a good looking dog.We have a boxer right now.He is a brindle named Joe.We have had boxers for about the last 7 years. Our female we had for 6.looked just like yours. She ate a very expensive remote to our satelite dish. And 2 very expensive cordless phones.Needless to say my dad wasn't very happy.(it wasn't her first offense)So she was sent to the humane society.Boxer rescue got her I hope.I must admit it wasn't easy driving away from the place leaving one of my best freinds back there.I Cried.

Like I said I hope your lab gets better Rico.He is a cute little guy.

I hate to hear about that metalqaud rider.

I had a blacklab. It was the smartest dog I have ever had.Never left the yard.Etc etc.One day he was just gone.About a week after he disappeared my neighbor shows up and says he found my dog.Apparently the goverment released abunch of mountains lions in missouri. They have been moving north. One of them currently occupies the woods around my house. The conservation department confirmed there is one. They just can't catch it though. They didn't try very hard though if you ask me.

Joe the boxer I have now got ran over like 2 weekends ago.He was right in the way every where we rode.Eventaully he got ran over.It was by a 400ex though.Sorry to hear the news.

i had a lapso wapsu (SP). He was a little guy and this was when i was about 5 years at the most. Well everytime i got a new toy he would take it and chew it up. I loved him soo much. Well we were going to get some school supplies and we couldnt find him so we shut the door to the van after we looked in there for him. It turns out that he was actually in there and we found him later still alive so we took him to the vet. The vet said he wouldnt make cuzz he was dehidrated (SP) so he put the dog to sleep. I was very said that day cuzz when i was said i used to go and cry and hug him. That was one of the saddest days of my life. O ya his name was Noah. Soory to hear about all the dogs that got hit or ranover, and i hope the owners dont hurt too bad.

Well, on the upside, at least it will be cheaper than the same surgery on a person. By a lot. He will be fine I am sure. ( you did take him out of state right?) j/p

11-11-2002, 02:18 PM
No surgery was needed...after I got him home and I guess the fact of being in the comfort of his own home,,he finally let loose the poop that was in him for 5 days...partially in the dang house too..but anywho I got him outside and he commenced to releiving himself for about 20 minutes..i figured I was gonna have to take him to a chiropractor afterwards,,he was hunched over for a good 15 straight minutes LMFAO... but anywho the bones and what not became unstuck after the forces of nature took over and after more X-rays it showed no obstacles in his colon but he still has some scrapes and cuts on his colon wall but he'll be OK..as of this morning he's back to 100% almost..thanks fer the prayers and thoughts..;)
