View Full Version : What carb would you recommend?

Ok I have a PV Pro x 250 kit, LRD pipe and silencer, 18cc dome. I currently have a lectron carb but its giving me some head aches starting cold. I am thinking just put a new carb on it, what is everyone running? I dont really care what it costs I want to be able to start cold and run great.

Keihin 39mm PWK or Keihin 39mm A/S carb and I prefer irridium plugs. You really just cant go wrong with Keihin carbs, their easy to jet and give you top shelf performance.

Criminalpoet is correct. Get a Keihin; you'll be happy that you did. Although, the size you get really depends on what type of riding you plan on doing.

I have had a Lectron for a few years now. Originally jetted for 70-80 degree weather, never changed. Been running it year round in Maryland. I push the throttle a few times times, and she starts on the second kick in freezing weather, no problems. And that is after it has been sitting a few months.

a 38mm a/s would be a good choice. i run one in x/c and it works great with higher than stock compression.;)

since we are talking about carbs, i have a ct265pv with a 39pwk, and a esr 310 with a 38 A/S, i haven't ridden the ct yet, as i just got it, but would it make more sense to swap the carbs?

i dont think it would be much of a difference. i would put the 39pwk on the 310 myself though.

Maybe.

I think the deciding factor would be the particular porting, pipe, and intended usage of each motor.

Sure, it would make sense to have the large carb on the large motor. But you need to consider more than just size.

For example, if the CT265 was a top-end motor designed for dune riding, then it might be better to have the larger carb on that motor, to allow it to rev out as well as possible.
