Im thinking about getting a new KFX 450R, i currently ride a LTZ 400, I do alot of trail riding on some back country trails here in CO. I got the Z cause of the trail rating. the ground clearance has come in very handy, and it has plenty of power. Im starting to sand ride and track it some, so i need some more power. my question is how is the KFX on the trail? not to much ground clearance on it. how does it do with the rocks with the aluminum frame?

can anyone help?

Excellent trail quad. I am in the process of making a full body skid plate and a-arms out of HDPE plastic. I would definately buy a swingarm skid.

im waiting for next years kfx450 due to the fact they need to work a few things out like suzuki did with their ltr450 for 08 but what i want to know is how long do the 450 go on a tank of gas? i do 500 miles a ride at the most, maybe 600

where in the hell do you ride??? when we went to Hatfield and Mccoys we only did about 40-60 miles a day and I thought that was alot. Hell in a 2 hour xc race I'm lucky to do 40-50 miles and that's nonstop for 2 hard and fast hours.

erac that was funny as hell. I to wonder the same thing ,because the most I have ever ridden was right at 100 miles of rough trail and that was plenty. I haven't checked distance for sure but I imagine from my expierience maybe 70 miles or so per tank. Depending on the riding.

if you have done anything to the quad i think it gets a little better on the gas than stock but i doubt 30 or 40 miles of hard ridin with the little tank on it and mine is out. my light comes on alot faster than my other quads did. but its still great fun to ride and the rocks hasnt killed my frame yet and i rode for a couple months without skids.

It will go 4 laps in a GNCC with the stock tank, anywhere from 40-48 miles.

I did 40 and 50 mile fast rides this weekend with gas still in the tank. A review I read said it could do 80 miles and with the amount of gas I had left I would say that might be about right.

I average about 40 miles up and back on the trail I ride and the only time I came close to running the tank empty was when I spent an extra hour or 2 in the sand pit when we had a nice loose dirt circle track going with all of us power sliding around the thing in a tight group for awhile riding it in there hard.

I would go with the 80 miles of trail riding as well.

but theres also the missing factor of what you are ridin, like the kfx700 takes two gas tanks when others take one
