Translucent black?

I've got this image in my head of a black clearcoat with aluminum/chrome underneath. When the sun doesn't hit it, it looks real dark, but when the sun hits it, it's sort of a black chrome look.

Is this a possible combination with powdercoat, or are these "wet dreams" that need to go away?:rolleyes: :eek2:

actually, there is a translucent black(not sure if that is what they are calling it) but IMO...it looks like something went wrong instead of what your describing so I would be leary to attempt it on anything that couldnt easily be redone:p
